But she flirted with Mark so wantonly at the dining table that even our cook could not stand it and mocked her.

Rachel immediately slandered the cook by saying that she did not clean the vegetables properly, which had caused her gastritis. She even demanded that the cook be fired.

At that time, I had no appetite due to my pregnancy, and only the cook’s meals suited my tastes.

Since I was supposed to be the host, I went to Rachel and said that I could hire another cook for her, but she slapped me.

“It doesn’t matter whether she cooks well or not. What’s important is for her to understand just who the real matriarch of the house is! Jane, I’m telling you right now: Mark will only have one wife, and that’s me!”

In order to prove that the one Mark truly loved was her, she curled up in his arms like a kitten and sobbed while telling him that she was very unfortunate and could not give birth to his children for him.

She then said that she felt sad when I walked around with my pregnant belly.

“I already tried my best to avoid Jane, but I still can’t avoid running into her every day. I should just move out. Living here makes me so sad!”

Mark immediately lost control of his emotions. With an icy face, he slapped me so hard that I fell to the floor.

“You know that Rachel gets upset when she sees pregnant women, but you still walk around in front of her?! What are you plotting?!

“You’re evil! You’re unworthy of being a mother! I’m going to lock you up in the attic and make you suffer for this!”

His bodyguards grabbed my limbs and threw me into the dusty attic.

“The doctors told me to go to the hospital and wait for my delivery! If I go there, she won’t see me!”

I grabbed the door frame and pleaded for him to let me go as I cried.

But Mark only sneered. “If you’re going to lie, at least get your facts straight. Your delivery date is three days away!”

He refused to listen to my pleas and slammed the door shut.

My fingers were jammed against the door, and the sharp pain made my insides wither as I pulled my hand back. I could no longer say anything.

Mark shot me a smug look and locked the attic door.

At this moment, they were still being intimate with each other when the butler ran over and panted. His voice was full of panic. “Mrs. Frank… is gone!”

“She’s gone?!”

Mark whipped his head up and looked displeased because the butler had ruined his fun.

The butler wiped his sweat away and said fearfully, “The attic is covered in blood, and Mrs. Frank…”

He could not continue.

Mark straightened out his disheveled shirt.

“What blood? I get it! She’s bleeding because she’s about to deliver, isn’t she? Send her to the hospital.”
