Chapter 8
I had to work the night shift, and it was already 11 p.m. by the time I could head home.
We walked through the narrow alley outside the old, dilapidated neighborhood, the dim lighting casting long shadows.
Suddenly, three shady–looking men appeared from around the corner and blocked our path.
My heart skipped a beat, and I grabbed my son, ready to run.
Without saying a word, they rushed forward and shoved me against the wall.
My son fell to the ground, waking up from the pain.
“Who are you? Let go of my mom!”
The man grinned lewdly, revealing a set of yellow teeth.
“We’re your dad!” He laughed. “Come on, let us hear you call us ‘Daddy.“”
My son grabbed one of the men’s legs and sank his teeth into it with all his strength.
The man screamed in pain and kicked my son with force, sending him flying across the alley.
My son curled up on the ground, clutching his stomach, his weak groans almost inaudible.
“Eddie!”
My heart shattered, and I cried out for help, but before I could finish, someone slammed a hand over my mouth.
“Shut up, you bitch. If you scream again, we’ll kill your son right here!”
A cold wave of terror washed over me, and I froze, no longer daring to struggle.
My clothes were torn to shreds in a matter of seconds, and I closed my eyes in despair.
The next moment, rapid footsteps echoed in the alley.
The man pinning me down was suddenly thrown off with force.
