Seeing that they were outnumbered, the robbers stopped fighting and scurried away as fast as they could.
Caleb hissed in pain. Fresh blood had stained the entirety of his sleeve. It dyed the fabric a vivid red. I coaxed him into sitting
down and tried my best to ignore the pained sounds he made as I removed his shirt.
Alice had brought a first–aid kit with her. I grabbed the bandages and administered first–aid on Caleb’s wound as quickly as I
could. On the way back to the ship, Alice said, “Let me support him.”
I shook my head. Caleb had only gotten hurt because of me. If he didn’t help me look for the items I needed to repair my bracelet, he wouldn’t have been forced to protect me, and he wouldn’t have gotten injured.
When we finally made it back to the cabin, Caleb’s face had already turned a ruddy red from the pain. The doctor examined his wound, and I let out a sigh of relief when he said that the injury wasn’t too serious. After everyone left, I heard laughter coming
from beside me.
Caleb picked up his backpack. “Everything’s still here. You did a great job.”
His smile was infectious, and I started smiling too. “Thank you, Caleb.”
The ship set off on its journey again. I took up the responsibility of tending to Caleb’s wound every day. When we arrived at South Point’s research station, Caleb’s arm had made a full recovery. All that was left was a small scar.

Caleb pointed at it and boasted, “This scar is my badge of heroism.”

Outside the window, the snow stretched on and on, covering everything in a blanket of white as far as the eye could see. The ocean had also frozen over. However, I could feel a strange rippling that radiated from the very bottom of my heart.
Members of the expedition team were assigned different tasks. Caleb and I shared the same specialization, so we were grouped together in the same team. We finally stepped foot on this mysterious land.
It was a race against time to carry out the tasks the expedition team had set out to achieve. We did our best to gather as much data
as we could. Five months later, we had nearly accomplished our goal. The team set forth toward the furthest investigation point
for the last time.
On our return trip, the wind around us began to howl wildly. We were stuck in the middle of a storm. We spotted a few black dots
in the distance, and when we approached them, we realized that the dots were actually other people. There were five of them in
their group, and they looked exhausted to the bone.
The leader of their group suddenly spoke. “We’re lost. Which research station are you from? Can you give us a hand?”
Although his voice had turned hoarse as if he had swallowed gravel, I immediately recognized it and the man it belonged to. After
all, I was intimately familiar with his voice. Through the lens of my goggles, I saw the face that had once been a permanent
fixture in my mind.
Luke had also noticed me. He rushed up to me and exclaimed, “Summer, I finally found you. Please come home with me, okay?”
Caleb moved to put himself between Luke and me.
Luke was visibly annoyed. “I’m talking to Summer right now. Why are you getting in the way when this has nothing to do with
you?”
I grabbed Caleb, who was obviously on edge. My tone was icy when I berated Luke. I said, “I already told you to leave me alone. Danger lurks in every corner of Glacia. You’re not supposed to be
here.”
