Chapter 6
A whole ten years had flown by, and Jeffrey had forgotten all about it.
It was just me, stuck in the past, and my silly crush ended up with me getting hurt by him.
I shut my eyes tightly, my hands trembling. The memories of my previous life were so vivid that they terrified me whenever they
surfaced.
Jeffrey looked really scared all of a sudden. He hugged me so tightly that I could hardly catch my breath.
“Ella, don’t pick Daniel, please? I know I’ve let you down, but we’ve been friends since we were kids. I can’t believe you’d just
start liking someone else like that.
“Daniel’s not the good guy you think he is. You think he has changed, but he hasn’t. My dad left him and his mom and didn’t care
about them at all. He’s been mad at us, so mad at the whole Graham family. He’s only marrying you to get back at us, Ella. Don’t let him trick you.”
I could not help but laugh when I saw how desperate Jeffrey looked.
Twenty years ago, our families decided I would marry into his family.
However, the Blakes eventually got more powerful while the Grahams did not. My dad did not want to break his promise, so he
said that only the heir to the Grahams could marry me.
So, whoever I married would be the next in line to take over the Graham family’s fortune.
Daniel had been sent away and had not come back. Jeffrey had pretty much forgotten about him, thinking he was not a threat.
He thought he had me all figured out and that he was sure to inherit the Graham family’s wealth.
However, he later met Sophie and started throwing caution to the wind. If he had been just a bit more careful, a bit smarter, and
kept Sophie hidden away… I would have fallen for his trick–hook, line, and sinker.
The boy who once comforted me had changed so much that he was hardly recognizable.
“Jeffrey, let me go,” I said.
“No, I won’t let you go, Ella. You’re going to marry me and no one else,” he replied, shaking his head as if he was madly in love
