Chapter

I knew he was just throwing out threats, but I had made up my mind. I was getting a divorce

A few days after that, Quintus showed up again

When he saw me, there was a brief moment of shock on his face

You’ve changed so much,he murmured, almost in awe

I smiled and nodded. Of course. I don’t have to sit around waiting for your messages anymore. I can finally do whatever I want.”

The lobby of my apartment building had a massive mirror, and I glanced at my reflection. I was slender and wellproportioned, and my naturally glowing complexion stood out against the black dress I wore, making me look even more elegant. I looked

nothing like the woman I used to be

Quintus, on the other hand, appeared a little downcast

I had seen the screenshots my friend sent me from Vanessa’s social media. Ever since I exposed him at the press conference

Quintus had been under fire. Instead of standing by him, Vanessa pressured him to finalize the divorce and marry her

immediately

She even threatened him in public, saying, Don’t tell me you’re still thinking of going back to her. Have you forgotten? I have

plenty of dirt on you.”

Quintus had recklessly spent money on gifts to please Vanessa until he ran into financial trouble. In the end, he resorted to taking kickbacks and falsifying accounts to cover his losses. However, Vanessa wasn’t naive. She had kept every incriminating call log

and message

Quintus refused to let her blackmail him forever. Can’t you be a little understanding? How can I marry you right now? Do you

want me to throw away my entire career?”

Vanessa didn’t care. She regularly caused scenes, even at his company

She would shout in the lobby, Quintus, you heartless man! I’m carrying your child! You can’t just ignore me.”

However, none of that mattered to me

All I cared about was the divorce. There was no going back

I had no interest in small talk, so I got straight to the point

Thanks for the compliment, but let’s discuss the divorce. I may not have earned as much as you, but I dedicated years of my life to our marriage. I hope you take that into account. I’m not greedy. I just want what’s rightfully mine.”

At the mention of divorce, Quintus fell silent

After a long pause, he finally looked at me. Do you really want to get a divorce? I thought by now you’d have cooled down. I love

you. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have married you. Haven’t I been good to you all these years?”

I opened my phone and clicked into Vanessa’s Twitter. There were plenty of posts subtly showcasing her relationship. I pointed to

each one

This hand is yours, right? On my birthday, you said you had to go on a business trip, but you took Vanessa to the mountaintop to

watch the meteor shower while I stayed up all night, unable to reach you.”

I let out a mocking laugh and went on, And this necklaceyou gave it to her, didn’t you? You told me it was for an important

client. To help you, I handed over the emerald necklace my grandmother left me. After my family went bankrupt, it was the most

valuable thing we had. I gave it to you without hesitation, and you turned around and gave it to Vanessa.”

They had even gone to Wisland to see the aurora

That was something I had dreamed of doing with him when I was young

However, Quintus always told me that they were just friends and that nothing physical had ever happened between them

I never imagined that one day he would be here, begging me not to divorce him

He said he loved me. He claimed Vanessa had tricked him

According to him, she was the one who seduced him
