Gabriel heard Nicholas‘ cries and subconsciously tightened his hold on Quinn’s hand. He asked, “Will you regret this?”
“No, I only find him pathetic, seeing him like this.” She looked up at the sky. When she and Nicholas had first gotten together, he’d been cheerful and adorable. She’d truly felt happy with him then, but her feelings for him had slowly disappeared when he’d hurt and betrayed her.
“Will you regret being with me, then?” Gabriel asked. His voice trembled slightly, conveying his unease.
Quinn looked at him and smiled gently. “Don’t overthink this.”

Quinn conducted experiments, Gabriel would stay by her side and assist her, Gradually, he found that he was genuinely interested
in research.
Meanwhile, Quinn finally got a taste of what a peaceful life was like. She thought things would continue like this, but things went
wrong after a few days.
In just one night, Quinn’s photos were plastered all over Cloudstone. There were even rumors of her getting between a couple for money—it insinuated that she’d only gotten together with Nicholas to climb up the social ladder.
This caused a stir, and it was taboo for someone in scientific research to get involved in something like this. Quinn’s previous
career as an actress had already made her an unpopular candidate among the research center’s staff.
She’d only gotten another chance to join the research center because Steven had acted as a guarantor for her behavior. Due to
that, she couldn’t access anything too critical for the time being.
Quinn didn’t mind, though. She was confident that people would slowly forget about the past as time passed, and she would be
granted access to core research. She didn’t expect something like this to happen so soon, though.
Steven looked distressed and couldn’t help heaving sighs. He had high hopes for Quinn–he’d been upset for the longest time
when she’d given up on her research career for Nicholas‘ sake. He was unhappy that something like this had happened when
she’d finally returned.
He asked gloomily, “Could your ex–fiancé be behind this?”
He couldn’t think of anyone other than Steven who would pull something like this.
Quinn disagreed, though. She knew Nicholas he wouldn’t go to such extremes since he wanted to win her back. Her bet was on
someone else.
With that thought, she called Stella. Sure enough, the latter told her Jasmine had left Heathridge a few days ago. That explained
everything
It looked like Jasmine was determined to ruin her. If that were the case, there was no need for her to hold back anymore.
The incident snowballed, thanks to Jasmine fanning the flames behind the scenes. There were even rumors of Quinn having several sugar daddies and backers.
By the time Quinn heard of this, Nicholas had already tracked Jasmine down. He slapped her hard as she gaped at him.
“You’re asking for trouble, Jasinine!” He trembled with rage. He shouldn’t have restrained himself if he’d known she would’ve pulled something like this.
