“Letting a woman pay? I guess the Blackwell family’s not so impressive after all!”
He turned to me. “Yvonne, you’d better open your eyes. Do you think marrying him for money is gonna work out? You won’t see a
dime!”
I couldn’t help but laugh.
I used to pinch pennies, saving every cent to put into our shared account.
And what did I get for that?
Queenie used my money to live her best life while I was left in the dirt. Yet, now I was the one being accused of marrying for
wealth?
I never cared for riches and fortune. All I wanted was someone to grow old with.
Instead, I got kicked down the stairs by Nigel and was forced to kneel before Queenie by Shawn.
It was truly pathetic and laughable.
Joseph was done with the drama. He raised his hand and called for security to throw them out.
Nigel thrashed as he was dragged away, eyes wild with rage.
“Yvonne Sachman! You heartless bitch! The Langston family raised you for over a decade, and this is how you repay us?”
They didn’t know Dad had long since bounced back. Ever cent the Langston family had ever spent on me–he had repaid them in
full.
Even my salary from working had gone to fund their new favorite.
I owed them nothing.
The guards, sick of the struggle, landed a hard kick to both their backs.
With a loud thud, the Langston brothers fell to their knees.
