Chapter 23
Adam knew that Gray had the power and influence to back his words up.
Before he left the country, he received information from Leo and learned that Ginnie still had family left, and that family was the
powerful Sullivan family.
The Sullivan family dabbled mainly in the medical equipment market and practically monopolized half of the market abroad. The
branch companies in the country were also leaders in the field.
That was just scratching the surface. Sullivan Corporation’s strength was unfathomable and far surpassed Adam’s level.
Even so, he could not just give up on Ginnie because of these difficulties. He could not.
Adam pursed his lips, and his gaze turned firm. “Ginnie is my wife. That will never change.”
Gray scoffed. “Bah. Your wife? I’ve lived a long life, and I’ve never met a man who still has the gall to say a woman is still his wife after breaking her arm, defaming her, and disappointing her to the point of getting an abortion.
“I won’t be talking with you about those horrible things you did to my granddaughter. I’m going to just ask you one thing. You had to rely on Ginnie to form Grant Corporation. What makes you think you have the right to tell me to my face that you want to
be back together with my granddaughter? Look around. All those who want to marry Ginnie because they want to ride on Sullivan
Corporation’s coattails have a net worth much higher than yours.”
Adam clenched his fists.
Ever since he created Grant Corporation, he had shaken off the title of being a driver’s son. Later on, everyone who met him in the business world treated him respectfully.
Being looked down upon by someone with a higher status was so long ago that he had almost forgotten how it felt.
But for Ginnie’s sake, Adam humbled himself again. “Mr. Sullivan, I’m willing to use everything that I have to make up for all the
wrongdoings I did to Ginnie. As for you saying that I’m not worthy of her… I promise you that since I was able to build up my
company from scratch, I’m confident that I can make it even greater. While I cannot guarantee that it can compare with Sullivan
Corporation, I’m sure that I can make Ginnie live a life without worry.”
Gray looked out the window and gave Adam a mysterious smile.
“Unfortunately for you, I won’t give you that chance.”
Right after he said those things, Adam’s phone rang. It was from Frank Grant, his father.
Ever since Adam became rich, Frank had grown addicted to gambling and having fun. He would not readily call Adam unless he had an emergency.
Gray tapped the floor with his cane and growled, “Answer the phone. It’s time you suffer the consequences of your actions toward my granddaughter.”

Once the call went through, Frank’s alarmed voice entered his ears. “A–Adam, you have to come back now! Why doesn’t your
company account have any money? If they don’t get money, they’re going to capture me!!!
Shocked, Adam blurted, “What?”
Ten hours later, Adam got off the plane, and he saw Leo waiting for him anxiously.
Before the company got into trouble, Leo had called Adam countless times, but Adam had been busy begging for forgiveness from Ginnie and ignored those calls.
While Leo grabbed Adam’s luggage, he said, “Mr. Grant, our company was suddenly attacked by Sullivan Corp and Xander Corporation. All of our major business partners cancelled their contracts with us,
ince we can’t return the funds, we’re in a financial crisis!”
“Got it. Let’s go back to the company.”
With no other choice left, Adam had to set aside his grief of parting with Ginnie for the time being and hurry back to the company to manage the situation.
Over the next two months, Adam had fewer than four hours of sleep every day. He kept going back and forth between the company and Frank
In the end, after using up practically half of the company’s resources, he managed to prevent the company from going under and also clear Frank’s gambling debts.
Just when he finally had a chance to catch his breath, he saw a document outside his door.
