Chapter 10 Basketball–1
“Watch out!” A muffled voice snapped Victoria back in reality. She turned just in time to see a huge ball coming right at her.
No time to dodge! She tilted her head and blocked the fast–approaching basketball. It flew off at a sharp angle, bounced on the ground, and eventually came to a stop.
Thank goodness for all that muscle memory from her

Otherwise, she’d be

Victoria glared at the tall guy running over.
Why did i
it have to be him?
The guy running towards her was backlit, his hair perfectly tousled in that annoyingly perfect way, even while running. He had sharp eyebrows, bright eyes, and a warm, apologetic look on his face.
It was Tennis Gonzalez, the y guy she had a crush on in her past life.
He came from a well–off family, was a top student, and after graduation, he starred in a film by a new director. His performance shof him to fame, earning him the title of the youngest Best Actor.
He had both box office success and popularity, and his relationship with the junior actress Ella was highly praised. Everyone said they were a perfect match.
And Victoria? She was just an unremarkable classmate to Dennis
He didn’t remember that he had once helped her out of a tough spot nor did he know she had secretly liked him for a long time.
She had a chance to work with him again in a new film. But Ella took the lead role by Victoria into going home to take care of her. Victoria missed the signing and lost the opportunity.

The director, in a fit of anger, replaced her with the backup, Illa,
In her past life, Victoria had regrets, watching Dennis and Ella being all lowey–dovey, and she had cried her heart out.
“Are you okay?” Dennis asked, looking genuinely concerned.
It must have hurt to get hit by the basketball, Victoria’s delicate face with her slightly furrowed brows, was stunningly beautiful.
Im fine, just be more careful next time.” V Victoria’s tone was cold,
Now, looking at him, she didn’t feel that same flutter anymore.
Even i
though he was still as handsome and gentle as ever, without angle flaw, he now seemed a bit disgusting to Victoria, maybe because he was involved with Ella.
Victoria’s forearm, where she blocked the ball, felt a bit numb and had turned red.
“Your arm is red; don’t be stubborn. Let me take you to the infirmary Dennis said, noticing the red patch on Victoria s exposed
“I’m Dennis, by the way. What’s your time? Dennis asked,

Victoria frowned.
I said I mi ne. I know the way.
She turned and walked away.
Dennis wasn’t the type to pester, so he stayed where he was, t
thoughtfully watching her leave.
Two of Dennis s basketball baddies ran up to him, laughing, and throw their arms around his shoulders.
“Dennis, who was that girl? So cold and so beautiful!” one of them said,
The other
one chimed in. “Yeah, it’s the first time I’ve seen someone so indifferent to your charm.
The first one replied, “A freshman? She didn’t even give our student council president any face.”
“Don’t joke around. It was our fault; she was being magnanimous,” Dennis said.
He was puzzled too. Did he have something on his face? Or did he smell bad from sweating?
Why did she seem a bit disgusted?
Dennis shifted himself. Seemed fine.
Victoria went to o the infirmary, and the nurse applied some ointment to her arm.
“Your skin is so delicate; you need to be more careful,”

“Okay, Victoria replied.
Her phone rang. It was Nick.
“Victoria, where are you? Want to join us for a big meal? Consider it a welcome party for you!” Nicks voice was cheerful. Today, Ethan was in a good mood and offered to treat them to a meal.
“Infirmary,” Victoria answered, somewhat absentmindedly. It wasn t big deal, and the ointment made the redness disappear.

“Why are you at the infirmary? Are you hurt? Nick exclaimed.
What was going on? How could Victoria from the Hamilton family be bullied on her firs
first day of school? If he found out who did it,
he wouldn’t let them off the hook..
Ethan, who had been standing with his hands in his pockets, grabbed the phone upon hearing this. “Are you okay? Is it serious? We’re coming over right now!”
Victoria was about to say it was nothing, but the call had already enced,
In no time, they were all standing in the infirmary, staring at each other.
The nurse was stunned. What’s going on? Suddenly, four handsome guys barged in. Is the one leading them this beautiful girl’s boyfriend? It’s great to be pretty; even a small bump gets so much attention. I’m so envious.
“What happened to you?” Ethan grabbed her wrist, staring at the skin where the ointment was applied.
Victoria uncomfortably twisted her hand to break free. “I accidentally got hit; it doesn’t hurt anymore. Why are you all making such a fuss? Anyone who doesn’t know might think something serious happened to me.”
Nick said, “We thought you were being bullied and rushed over to support you!”
ne it was all better.
“Okay, I appreciate your concern. Thank you for caring about me.” Victoria shook her slightly red arm, indicating
In her previous life, she ended up being hotrayed by everyone, with no close friends. Unlike now, being pampered by family and friends felt great!
Ethan suddenly said, “Is just saying thank you enough? Shouldn’t you treat us to a meal?”
“What?” Victoria was stunned. Really? Asking for a reward right then and there?
Nick said, “Ethan is joking.
No w
we’re letting you treat us–I’m here, it’s on me!”
Victoria smiled, “I can join you for a big meal today, maybe another time. I have a performance at the welcome party, I need to practice this afternoon, so I’ll just grab something simple to eat at school.
“Alright. Then you’re missing out, we’ll just…” Nick was about t
to say they would leave first.
Ethan interrupted him. “We’ll join you for a simple meal; it’s good to try something new.”
Nick said,
- “Ethan, why are you being so stingy?”
Roy Leased, “His intention isn’t here. It’s good to change the taste occasionally.”
Etic said, “Let’s go. We’ve been delayed for a while; I’m
m hungry.”
The five of them went to a nearby small cafeteria to eat.
Nexus College had more than a dozen cafeterias of various sizes, and the school cafeterias were quite good, clean, and cheap.
Due to Ella’s instigation, Brian and Joan cut off Victoria’s card in her previous life. This forced her to take up part–time jobs to Support herself. She frequently ate in the cafeteria, which was much safer than the street vendors outside—at least it didn t land her in the hospital.

It was just the taste, but also the memories. The sweetness in the bitterness always seemed extra sweet.
Victoria was happily eating the Balsamic Glazed Salmon, a bit of the red sauce sticking to her lips, which she didn’t notice.
However, Ethan, sitting opposite her, wasn’t eating properly, picking at his food, most of his attention on her.
Ethan pointed and said, “You ve got sauce on your mouth.”

The other three were either talking or looking out the window, not noticing this little episode.
