Chapter 48
Theo glanced at Anathea, who was trimming the flower branches, and let out a light chuckle.
“Treasure? I don’t think so. She just used some underhanded tricks to get Gregory to marry her, that’s all. And she’s quite the
restless one. Otherwise, she’d be staying at home instead of coming out here to be an eyesore. Who knows if it’s intentional or
Just coincidental?”
There was a faint trace of mockery in his to
tone.
Hearing this, Anathea paused momentarily before snipping off another branch.
The others barely grasped Theo’s words and turned to look at Gregory. Yet, Gregory’s expression remained calm as he continued
playing the game.
Seeing Gregory’s indifference, Theo took the opportunity to add, “Gregory, you should just divorce that scheming woman.
What’s so great about her, huh? Everyone knows Ms. Whitman is a much better match for you-
Before he could finish, Gregory calmly laid down his hand. “Royal flush.”
“Fuck! You were just waiting for me to take the bait, weren’t you?” Theo cursed as he stared at the cards.
Gregory simply smiled and said flatly, “Pay up.”
Someone laughed. “I told you, the moment Gregory sits at the table, Theo doesn’t stand a chance.”
“Bullshit! That was just dumb luck. Watch me win big and show you all how it’s done.” Theo was determined to win.
As the game progressed, it felt like Gregory had Theo in a chokehold. Theo lost six rounds in a row. Theo’s face grew darker with
each hand. The escort who had been trying to cozy up to him fell silent, not daring to say a word.
Gregory was unfazed by his frustration and nonchalantly placed a card on the table.
Theo finally caught a break. “Raising!”
“Well, well… Theo, looks like you finally got a good one.” Adrian chuckled.
“Of course.” Theo’s confidence returned in an instant.
But just when he thought his luck had turned, the player before him laid down a nine. Gregory didn’t react. Instead, he waited
until Theo confidently threw out a six. Then, without hesitation, Gregory called it. “Straight flush.”
Theo was shocked. “Gregory, you’re fucking with me on purpose, aren’t you?”
It finally dawned on him that Gregory had let him raise on purpose, just to bait him into this trap.
Gregory took a slow sip of his drink. “If you suck, just practice more.”
Those words stung even more than losing a million this round.

Adrian laughed. “So all that winning streak was just dumb luck, huh? The moment Gregory sat down, your true colors showed.”
“Fuck! Something’s definitely messing with my luck today!” Theo grumbled, scanning the room in frustration.
The escorts exchanged glances, feeling puzzled.
When Theo saw Lena placing yellow roses into the vase, he immediately flew into a rage. “What the hell are you doing?”
Lena jumped at his sudden outburst, pricking her finger on a thorn.
Anathea instinctively moved to check on Lena, but Theo was already there, angrily pointing at the vase of yellow roses. “My lucky color today is red, and my unlucky color is yellow. So why the hell did you fill the whole damn vase with yellow ones?”
Lena froze on the spot. No one had told her there were requests about this.
“Mr. Harrington, I’m sorry! I’ll take the yellow roses out right away-”
“What’s the point now? I’ve already lost so many hands because of the bad luck you two brought me!” Theo cut her off, dumping all the blame on them.
Anathea frowned. She knew exactly what was happening. Theo was just throwing a tantrum after losing at poker. If she stayed quiet, the worst that would happen was getting chewed out by him.
But Lena, shaken by his outburst, actually hesitated. Her voice trembled as she asked, “What… do you want me to do, Mr. Harrington?”
