Chapter 43
“Done everything?” Anathea stared blankly at Carla, and suffocating fear surged through her.
“Mrs. Jacobson’s condition has deteriorated to the point where she won’t survive another emergency resuscitation. The surgery can’t be delayed any longer,” Carla advised.
Anathea pressed her lips together, aware of the gravity of the situation. However, she still hadn’t managed to get the full 30
milion dollars needed for the surgery.
“Can we start the medication first? I promise, I’ll pay the full amount before the surgery.” She looked at Carla, pleading.
Carla had previously informed her that before the surgery, Fiona needed to be injected with a certain medication for two weeks to
stimulate her body’s functions, ensuring she could undergo the procedure.
Carla hesitated, contemplating her request. Meeting Anathea’s anxious, hopeful gaze, she finally nodded. “I’ll do my best to get approval for it.”
“Thank you, Dr. Peltz.” Anathea sincerely expressed her gratitude. As long as the medication started, it could temporarily
alleviate Fiona’s condition and ease her suffering.
Carla reminded her, “But once we start to administer this medication to her, we
dn’t stop halfway–Mrs. Jacobson must continue on it until the surgery. Otherwise, her vital signs will deteriorate rapidly, and by then, she’ll truly be beyond saving.
“Moreover, in addition to this medication, another drug must be used before the surgery to boost her physical condition to its peak for a successful procedure. Currently, our hospital only has two doses of this drug, and it’s extremely scarce.
“We can only reserve a dose for you for a limited time. So, you might need to pay the full amount as soon as possible.”
“I understand. Thank you, Dr. Peltz.” Anathea nodded solemnly.
In the next two weeks, she had to gather the remaining funds, no matter what it took.
Anathea stood outside the ward for a long time, silently watching Fiona lying motionless inside. The once–envied Fiona now
looked lifeless on the hospital bed.
Anathea clutched her chest, feeling Fiona’s pain as if it were her own, her heart tightening with agony. “I’m sorry, Mom. I
promise, I’ll do whatever it takes to save you.”
Anathea lost track of time as she stood there, her legs growing increasingly numb. Eventually, the sensation jolted her back to reality, prompting her to turn and walk away slowly.
However, as she passed another ward, a familiar voice reached her ears. “Greg, it hurts so much…..”
Anathea turned her head. Inside, Natalle sat on the hospital bed while a doctor treated her injury. Her face was pale from pain, tears glistening in her eyes as she tightly gripped Gregory’s hand.

“You’re going to be fine. It’ll be over soon.” Gregory’s voice was gentle and reassuring.

It was a stark contrast to the ruthless businessman known as “the Frost King” in the business industry.
“Ah!” Natalie cried out in pain and leaned against Gregory’s shoulder, her voice trembling with sorrow.
“Greg, will I never be able to walk again? If I’d known… If I’d known, I would’ve been more careful and wouldn’t have ended up
like this…”
“Don’t worry, I’ll have the entire hospital’s top specialists come for a consultation. We’ll make sure your leg heals.” Gregory’s
tone was steady, but the fact that he was willing to gather an entire team of experts showed just how much he cared for Natalie.
It was no wonder he’d brought her along on his business trip to a romantic getaway destination.
Anathea glanced at the diamond ring on her ring finger, finding it utterly ironic. But she didn’t linger. She walked straight out of
the hospital. There were more important matters to attend to. She had no time for self–pity.
Fortunately, Gregory didn’t go back on his word. The Jacobson family and the studio were back in operation. However, the
Jacobson family had suffered significant losses.
Even though things were back on track with the Jacobson’s company, it would take time before they could regain financial
stability. William was already struggling to hold everything together on his own, and Anathea couldn’t bring herself to ask him
for money.
Anathea hesitated for a moment before deciding to call Hannah. However, as soon as she unlocked her phone, she saw Hannah
trending at the top of the news.
“Famous Actress Hannah Cole Betrayed by Her Own Father, Faces Massive Breach of Contract Penalty.”
Anathea’s grip on her phone tightened as she immediately dialed Hannah’s number. The phone rang for nearly a full minute
before it was finally answered.
“Thea?” Hannah asked hoarsely.
“I saw the trending news. Are you… okay?” Anathea’s voice was filled with concern.
She knew a bit about Hannah’s situation with her father. Hannah’s parents, Leon Cole and Celeste Everett, had divorced and
gotten married to others, leaving Hannah to be raised by her grandparents. Neither of her parents had ever really cared for her.
