Dominic immediately arranged surgery that day, aborting Beverly’s pregnancy on the grounds that her cancer made pregnancy
unsuitable.
After dealing with Beverly, unwilling to lose contact with Jane, he went to Alexa’s house to inquire about Jane’s whereabouts. He
didn’t give up; he staked out her house every day.
After several days, Alexa, thoroughly annoyed, simply said that Jane had gone to a lab and left Concordia, but refused to reveal
which lab.
Dominic and Jane attended the same university. He contacted her professors. After repeatedly asking university alumni, he learned that her professor had established a new lab at Chrysalis.
Although there was no concrete evidence she was at that lab, Dominic’s intuition told him Jane was at Chrysalis. He bought a
plane ticket and immediately flew there.
Using the address provided by an alumnus, Dominic easily found the lab. The first experiment hadn’t started yet, and the lab
wasn’t locked down. He asked someone just returning from outside to help him find Jane.
I was surprised when Emily said someone was looking for me. I had only told a few people the lab’s address, and I had only just
left Concordia. Who could be looking for me?
With a questioning heart, I went out and discovered it was Dominic.
