Since she lost consciousness the moment she was frozen, Gemma’s memory remained suspended at that exact point 50 years
earlier. To her, it felt as though she had just been frozen and immediately awakened.
A staff member approached her quickly, asking in concern, “Ms. Kirk, how are you feeling? Are you feeling dizzy or nauseous?
Don’t worry; it’s normal to experience these symptoms after thawing.
“If you feel like vomiting, go ahead. Here’s a vomit bag, some water, and a towel. If you need anything else, just let us know.”
Gemma stared blankly, trying to make sense of the situation. “Thawing? Didn’t I tell Andrea not to thaw me?”
Before the staff could respond, a familiar male voice spoke from behind her.
“Gemma.”
Even after decades, Gemma recognized the voice immediately.

Chapter 23
“U–Uncle Murphy?!”
She spun around abruptly, her face filled with disbelief as she looked behind her. Standing there, gazing at her with deep affection, was Murphy.

Murphy had just stepped out of his cryo–casket. His hair was damp, and his body still emitted traces of residual cold, but none of that mattered to him.
As soon as he regained the ability to move, he rushed to Gemma’s side. As he summoned all his strength, he pulled her into a tight embrace.
“Gemma, I’ve finally met you again.” Murphy held the young woman tightly in his arms as if he wanted to fuse her into his very being.
He silently thanked the heavens for granting them the chance to reunite. This time, he swore he would never let them be separated again.
“Uncle Murphy… Why are you here?” Gemma asked, her voice filled with confusion. “And why do you look like you’ve just been
thawed?”
Behind him, she could clearly see a recently opened cryo–casket.
Her mind lagged for a moment, and then it struck her–had Murphy also frozen himself?
Why?
Was he not already married to Evangeline? If he had chosen to be frozen, what about Evangeline?
A flood of questions overwhelmed her, but having just woken up, her brain struggled to process such complex information. The effort made her head throb painfully.
Gemma clutched her head as her face twisted in pain.
Murphy immediately panicked. “Gemma, what’s wrong? Is it a headache? Don’t think too much right now. You’ve just been
thawed. Drink some water and rest.”
“But…” Gemma’s mind remained a tangled mess with unanswered questions. She gripped Murphy’s sleeve tightly, refusing to let
- go.
Seeing her like this, Murphy could not help but smile. He gently stroked her head, and his touch was full of affection as he said
with a reassuring smile, “Don’t worry. I’m not going anywhere. I’ll stay right here by your side.”
