I kicked him hard in the shin, my eyes filled with nothing but disgust.
My voice was laced with mockery as I spoke.
“If you’re sick, go get treated. Forgiving you doesn’t mean I’ll ever take you back.
“And one more thing–Lucas is my son. He has nothing to do with you. Don’t even think about trying to claim him.”
The moment I said that, a flicker of sorrow flashed through Xavier’s eyes.
He hesitated, as if wanting to step closer.
But the second he noticed the guarded look in my eyes, he suddenly dropped to one knee.
Reaching into his pocket, he pulled out a diamond ring.
His eyes were slightly red, filled with guilt as he spoke.

“Summer, I know I was wrong. I really didn’t know Wendy staged the whole kidnapping. If I had known, I never would have done
that to you. Please, give me another chance.
“You know Lucas is still young. He needs his father.”

Chapter 7
A crowd had begun to gather.
People whispered, watching the dramatic scene unfold.
Lucas curiously glanced around, oblivious to the weight of the moment.
I, however, looked at Xavier with nothing but contempt.
“If you want my forgiveness, you’ll have to die.”
A flicker of despair crossed Xavier’s eyes, but he still looked at me stubbornly.
“Summer… is that really the only way you’ll forgive me?”
I didn’t respond.
I simply turned and walked away, unwilling to waste another second on him.
But what I never expected was what happened next.
As I walked off, he suddenly climbed onto the supermarket window ledge.
And without a moment’s hesitation-
He jumped.
I watched as his body drifted through the air like a falling butterfly.
Yet, deep inside, I felt nothing.
Not a single ripple. Not even the slightest trace of emotion.
