For the next few days, I was so busy with my new company’s business that I barely had a moment to breathe.
Zane, who was afraid of disturbing me, always waited until I finished my work before picking me up and taking me home. Then,
he would personally cook me a full meal.
He was the only son of the Stone family. He had been raised in luxury and had probably never done anything like this before, but
he did it anyway.
As I looked at the table filled with all my favorite food, I could not help but feel touched.
“Zane, thank you. I didn’t expect your cooking to be this good.”
He simply filled my plate with spaghetti and said, “Once, I promised someone that I’d always stay by her side, cook her favorite
meals every day, and to love her forever, even if now, she no longer remembers me.”
As the scene in front of me suddenly overlapped with memories long forgotten, tears began streaming down my face.
Actually, I had always been strong.
However, I found myself crying uncontrollably at the moment.
I could barely remember anything from before I turned 22.
After being diagnosed with severe depression, countless rounds of electrotherapy erased all the important moments from my
mind.
I seemed to have forgotten the person in front of me. However, I clearly remembered that I promised I would never forget him.
Clutching the cutlery in my hands, I looked at him through tear–filled eyes.
“I think I used to know you.”
Zane just held me close and gently patted my back.
“It’s okay, it’s okay. Getting to know me again now is just as good.”
While I was swamped with work, Jake began making moves against the James family.
The phone call came through just as Zane and I were finalizing new business matters for the company.
“Lily, something’s happened with the family business. Can you come home?”
