I interrupted Shawn, saying, “I’m not interested in anything you have to say, and don’t twist the facts–you cheated first, which ended our relationship. I even posted about my marriage on social media. I never hid anything from you.”
Shawn’s heart clenched. It was true–I had not kept it from him. Yet, until the moment he saw my pregnant belly, he had convinced himself I was just angry and that I was no actually with someone else.
After all, we had known each other for so many years. So, Shawn thought their relationship couldn’t just end like that. Before he could say anything more, he realized Nathaniel and I had already driven away.
Meanwhile, Blair was called to the dean’s office for the third time. Nearly a month into the semester, she still had not paid her tuition, which the dean had personally covered for her.
“I’m sorry, sir. Please give me more time…” Blair was desperate.
She had spent heavily recently, using Shawn’s allowance to pay off her debts, leaving nothing for tuition. Moreover, Shawn had not even transferred her this month’s living expenses yet.
Looking up hopefully, she asked, “Sir, can I apply for the financial aid scholarship now?”
She had received the application form around this time last year.
The dean looked at her knowingly and replied, “The applications are already closed.”
“Closed?” Blair froze. “But I haven’t even-”
The dean cut her off, saying, “Blair, your current circumstances no longer qualify you for financial aid, so I gave this year’s spot to someone else.”
