The next day, Nathaniel and I visited my parents. They already knew I was pregnant, but since I had spent the last six months in Rosheria, I declined their offers to visit me.
When we left my parents‘ house, our car was packed with prenatal supplements. Since Nathaniel had not brought a driver, he had to load everything into the trunk himself while I stood by, contentedly sipping my bubble tea.
“Rowena,” a familiar voice suddenly called from behind.
I turned to find Shawn standing nearby, and his eyes were fixed on my obvious baby bump in shock. I froze, surprised to see him there.
Shawn had apparently run over, as he was out of breath and staring at my belly in disbelief. He exclaimed, ‘ What’s this? Rowena, what’s going on?”

He reached out as if to pull at my coat. Although I was bundled up in thick clothes, the rounded shape of my belly was still noticeable.
Nathaniel stepped in to stop him, warning him, “Shawn, she’s pregnant. Show some restraint.”
Shawn glanced at him. This time, he did not respectfully address him as “Uncle Nate“, but instead turned to me with reddened eyes. “Rowena, did you cheat on me?”
I took a sip of my bubble tea and looked at him. “Cheat on you? How could I when we weren’t even together?” Nathaniel smoothly took the bubble tea from my hand, reminding me, “You agreed to only drink one–third.”
I fell silent. Meanwhile, Shawn took a deep breath, pained by our interaction.
He asked, “What do you mean we weren’t together? You’re my girlfriend! You disappeared for six months, only to be with someone else?”
From a distance, he had already spotted me earlier. He had not expected that, after half a year, the next time he saw me, it would be like this.

Shawn had even asked Cedric to confirm that I had legally married Nathaniel. However, he had convinced himself it was nothing more than a fake marriage, some sort of revenge against him.
Yet, the sight of my pregnant belly made the blood drain from his face. He could not believe that Nathaniel and I were together. The woman he had always considered his girlfriend was now someone else’s wife, carrying another man’s child.
He could not stop himself from imagining all the moments must have shared with Nathaniel during those months, things we had done that he had not–tender moments and passionate nights.
The more Shawn thought about it, the more jealousy twisted like vines around his heart, squeezing painfully.
I stared at him calmly and asked, “Isn’t Blair your girlfriend?”
Shawn froze, stuttering, “No… She’s not…”
That was not how it was. He had only wanted to make me jealous. He had never liked Blair, and even the living expenses he provided were only out of consideration for me
