This was how Samantha used self–inflicted harm to search for the truth.
When the fragments finally aligned, remorse overwhelmed her. But it was far too late. I was already dead–violently, tragically,
and in utter disgrace.
The hospital repeatedly called, urging her to lay my body to rest. Lewis and Elsie echoed the sentiment, suggesting I be buried
quickly before the spring warmth set in and worsened my decay.
Samantha pretended not to hear.
No one knew she had preserved my corpse in a special solution to keep it intact for a little longer.
Isaac didn’t escape unscathed.
Samantha kicked him out and presented him with a long list of debts. Those were money he had borrowed from her for various joint ventures and acquisitions. Every single project had failed miserably, resulting in massive losses.
Samantha declared that she would take legal action if Isaac didn’t repay the money.
Their relationship turned sour, making them the laughingstock of their social circle.
Eventually, the Henderson family had to step in to resolve the mess.
That day, Samantha made her demands clear. She told the Hendersons that she would forgo the debt Isaac owed her, including all interest, under one condition–she would have sole rights to my body.
Lewis and Elsie agreed, not out of sentiment for me but because the Henderson family’s finances had been struggling in recent years. Investments had failed, and their liquidity was tight.
In the end, they signed away the rights to my remains to Samantha.
