Chapter 7
Right on cue, Regina wiped her tears and whimpered.
“Tyler, this is all my fault. I caused a misunderstanding between you and Lisa… If she has resentment, she should take it out on me. Why would she hurt my baby?”
Tyler was completely consumed by rage.
He thrust out his hand. “Give me the divorce papers! From now on, we are nothing to each other!”
I let out a laugh. Three years of marriage. Finally, this was how it ended.
I booked a ticket back to my parents‘ place. But before I left, I handed all my evidence over to Nigel.
The footage showed everything: how Regina had swapped the warm water in the thermos for boiling water and how she had
pushed me while making sure the water spilled onto her child.
I left everything in Nigel’s hands to clear my name.
Regina had wanted to kick me out with nothing, but she never imagined I had hidden cameras in the house.
As for what happened to them after? I didn’t care anymore.
When I got home, I gave my parents a brief rundown of what had happened with Tyler.
My dad sighed. “Shame. He was a decent kid.”
Three years ago, when I first brought Tyler home, he had sat with my dad, and they chatted for hours. They had gotten along well.
So my dad never minded that Tyler came from nothing. Instead, he had bought me a fully paid apartment in the heart of the city as a wedding gift.
Now, he fanned himself and started brainstorming ideas for me.
“There’s a bunch of farmland back home that nobody’s managing. You studied agriculture, didn’t you? Why don’t you go take over?”
My mom, who was chopping vegetables, shot him a glare.
“Oh, so you’re just gonna make our daughter do all the hard work? Why don’t you get off your ass and take care of your own
land?”
My dad grinned. “Hey now! My daughter’s smart and capable. She’ll make something great out of it. What? You don’t have faith in her?”
