everything.
“Where is she?” she asked anxiously, worried that I might do something foolish. “Where did she go?”
“She left,” Zachary said, rubbing his temples. He suddenly felt frustrated.
“Then, why are you still here? Why are you not looking for her right now?” Andrew asked, exasperated.
Zachary did not know what to do. He didn’t know where I was or if he should look for me. The thing was, if he left Sienna alone with his parents, they would not let her off easily.
Chapter 5
I returned home in a dazę. Staring at the jar of paper stars, I thought about my unborn child and burst into tears, unable to hold in
my sorrow any longer.
I took out the yellowed letter and penned my farewell message on the back of it.
While Zachary was hesitating, Grace called Julia to inform her of my departure.
“What? Evie is gone?” Julia exclaimed.
Hearing that, Zachary finally panicked. He rushed out. His only thought was to find me as soon as possible, ignoring Sienna when
she called after him.
Sienna tried to run after him, but Julia and Andrew, along with their bodyguards, stopped her. Julia slapped her a few more times.
“How dare you hit me!” she cried.
“I dare because I am Zachary’s mother!” Julia jabbed her finger at Sienna. “If anything happens to Evie, you’re done for!”
Sienna froze in terror, unable to utter another word.
Zachary drove recklessly, speeding down the road and running several red lights as he frantically searched for me. But Eiderton
was a big city–there was no way he would be able to find me easily.
In the end, he returned to our home, devastated, and rushed to our bedroom like a madman.
Everything of mine was gone. It was as if I had never been there.
