colleagues, we not only invited Ms. Anne Miller to give a speech but also asked her to

Anne’s previously composed smile froze. She pulled the host aside and whispered a few questions.
After a moment, seeming to have reached an agreement, the host handed her a cue card and enthusiastically announced, “Now,
let’s welcome Ms. Anne Miller to announce the winning company of this bid.”
Anne took the microphone and, looking at the card, began, “I announce that the company winning this project bid is Landon
Limited, owned by Linda…”
“This is mpossible!”
When she saw the last three words, her forced smile completely vanished. The card fell from her hand as her high–pitched voice
nearly pierced the ceiling.
As Anne looked over at me, I gave her a slight smile.
At the same time, the host’s tone grew stern.
“Ms. Miller, do you have some objection to our company’s decision?”
“No, no…”
