Chapter 8
As Anne was about to speak, I laughed mockingly, “What? Did you think he would take you with him?”
Ben, who had reached the door, paused for a moment but ultimately did nothing.
Nelson had already fled the moment he learned Peterson Group was bankrupt.
In my previous life, he drove me to bankruptcy. In this life, I bankrupted Peterson Group. My revenge was complete.
For a pampered rich boy like him, living without Peterson Group’s backing would be a punishment worse than death. I didn’t need to do anything more.
Only three of us remained in the hall: myself, Travis, and Anne.
Anne sat down not far away and spoke with false bravado, “Don’t be so smug. This is a society governed by law. If you dare to harm me, the law won’t let you get away with it.”
My low spirits immediately lifted at these words, and I burst out laughing.
“Hahaha… this is hilarious! I can’t believe the word ‘law‘ can even come out of your mouth!”
Bad people rarely commit just one bad deed. I didn’t believe Anne would have targeted only me after tasting success, so before returning, I had thoroughly investigated her.
With Peterson and Turner’s combined influence, they were practically untouchable in Brookshire, but Ben and Nelson could only
access part of that power, and Anne kept many things hidden from them.
With Travis’s Trada Corp helping me, finding evidence wasn’t particularly difficult.
I pulled out another prepared document and casually flipped through it, “Tax evasion, coercion, causing bodily harm…”
After tossing the document at her, I sneered, “So many crimes. You’ve been quite bold these past three years under Ben and Nelson’s protection, Ms. Miller.”
