Three years ago, when I was first targeted, I unexpectedly met Travis, who was going through something similar.
After escaping successfully, we collapsed on the ground, completely drained.
As the adrenaline faded, the pain from two lifetimes welled up from my heart, and I suddenly broke down crying uncontrollably.
When I had thoughts of ending my life, he was the one who took my hand and whispered five words in my ear:
“Don’t be afraid. I’m here.”
From that day on, I knew.
Even if the whole world betrayed me, he would always be by my side.
Coming back to the present, I looked at Ben and put on a polite, fake smile. “You raised me for many years, so despite your multiple attempts to have me killed, I won’t go to the police.”
I placed the share transfer agreement I had prepared in front of him. “But to be fair, since your goal was the shares, you must transfer your stock to me and leave Turner Enterprises.”
Ben locked up at me, his face full of regret. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry… Linda, can you give your brother one more chance?”
I shook my head and gently handed him a pen.
“Some mistakes can’t be undone.
“Sign it. Once you do, we’re even.”
Ben gripped the pen tightly and signed his name before large teardrops could soak the
paper.
As he stood to leave, he didn’t look at Anne even once.
