Chapter 20
Zander had been waiting for so many years, so waiting a little longer wasn’t an issue.
As Jaycie had said, they were just friends for now, and he was already content with that. After all, moving from strangers to friends was a step forward, and he couldn’t ask for more.
That night, unlike the two restless souls in Rochernia, Jaycie and Zander slept soundly.
It wasn’t until the next morning that Jaycie was awakened by the incessant ringing of her phone. Groggy, she opened her eyes and realized her social media account had been bombarded to the point of crashing.
The relentless pinging of notifications filled the air, each one brimming with malicious insults. A quick glance showed nothing but vicious slander. Just then, a call from a Rochernia number came through. She answered, and it was a friend from her time in Rochernia.
“Jaycie, have you seen what people are saying online? Those netizens are just repeating whatever they hear, believing anything! They’re calling you a homewrecker! You need to set the record straight and make sure those who slander you get what’s coming to them!”
Kate Corbyn barely took a breath before launching into a tirade, her quick and furious words showing just how upset she was.
After hearing her explanation, Jaycie finally understood what had happened.
It turned out that after Eileen returned to Rochernia, she couldn’t shake the humiliation from the banquet. Using her engagement to Cole as leverage, she twisted the truth, claiming Jaycie had interfered in her relationship with Cole. To make matters worse, she even leaked evidence showing that Cole and Jaycie had still lived together after their engagement.
At first, the public hadn’t believed the idea that the heiress of the wealthy Stantons would interfere in someone else’s relationship. But with Eileen’s so–called “evidence” and Cole’s friends backing her up, the tide quickly turned. By midnight, the online gossip had spiraled, and Jaycie’s account was flooded with hateful messages.
[You come from such a rich family, but didn’t anyone teach you basic morals? You can’t just tear apart someone else’s family!]
[Being the daughter of a billionaire doesn’t excuse this kind of behavior! Shameless!]
[Cancel Jaycie! Cancel TruVision!]
Among the insults, some were even worse, filled with crude and disgusting language. It was hard to look at.
Of course, there were a few rational voices who suggested waiting for Jaycie’s response before jumping to conclusions, but those comments were quickly drowned out by more angry rants.
“I’ll handle it. Don’t forget that I’m the only daughter of the Stantons, and TruVision’s legal team doesn’t take things lightly. If she’s spreading lies, she’d better be ready to face the consequences,” Jaycie said, her tone confident and unwavering.

Hearing her speak with such assurance, Kate finally breathed a sigh of relief. She offered some comforting words before hanging
