“I was planning on settling you down and then going to the guest room, but you wouldn’t let go of me, and then we…”
She trailed off, leaving her words hanging in the air.
Her half–finished sentence only deepened Cole’s suspicion. He stared at her, his gaze darkening, and it was unsure how much of
what she said he believed.
Eileen watched as Cole suddenly stood up and left the room without a word. He glanced at her briefly, his expression unreadable.

“Eileen, you’d better cut it out with your schemes. I’ll marry you, but only because you’re easy to manage, and I need you to deal
with my parents. If there’s a next time, I won’t hesitate to find someone else.”
Her face twisted with anger, and she almost ground her teeth together as she watched him walk away..
At her family’s estate in Housleton, Jaycie glanced at her phone, seeing yet another unknown number calling her. For the first time, she found herself frustrated with Cole, feeling like he was nothing more than an annoying pest she couldn’t shake off.
After blocking his number a while ago, she had enjoyed a period of peace, but now, for some reason, he had started calling from different numbers. Every time she blocked one, another would ring through; it felt like an endless cycle.
After hanging up on the latest call and blocking the number, she finally exhaled a deep breath, turned her phone to silent, and
placed it facedown on the table. Only then did she have the time to focus on the stack of papers in front of her.
The potential collaboration in front of her was the first major project she had taken on since joining TruVision. If she could nail
this, it would solidify her position in the company’s upper echelons.
At first, she had taken on the project without hesitation, but once she got into it, she realized that Cole was a bidder for the
project as well.
Jaycie wasn’t afraid of facing Cole head–on, but she couldn’t understand why he was getting involved.
Benson Corp’s roots were in Rochernia. Why was he suddenly meddling in projects in Housleton? Could it be because of her?
She couldn’t help but snicker at the thought.
Did Cole really think this would come off as romantic? Here he was, planning a wedding with one woman while refusing to let go
of another. He was walking a fine line between two women with the audacity to swear that he wasn’t involved with Eileen.
But even if he didn’t love Eileen, so what?
Eileen was still the woman he had agreed to marry after all. Even if Jaycie weren’t a billionaire’s daughter, he shouldn’t have
made the choice to turn her from his official girlfriend into someone he kept on the side.
