Jaycie had no idea what Cole was thinking. Emotionless, she added Cole’s number to her blacklist, followed by blocking all of his
contact information. Once that was done, she set her phone aside and drifted into a deep sleep.
That night, she slept more soundly than usual.
The next day was her first day at TruVision Enterprise. As the newly appointed CEO, Jaycie woke up early.
She was confident she could make a mark in this role, but she knew that on her first day, she couldn’t afford to make any
mistakes.
TruVision Enterprise was considered the Stantons‘ family business. With over a hundred years of history, it had a vast reach, covering everything from clothing brands, high–end jewelry, perfume, and handbags, to beauty and skincare products, and even everyday essentials. TruVision didn’t just participate in these industries–it led them.
Originally, Jaycie had planned to start working at one of TruVision’s smaller subsidiaries. However, both her dad Marshall and Andrea had insisted they believed she was more than capable of handling the role of CEO. Their push had placed her in this
position.
On her first day, the news spread quickly through the circles–TruVision had a young, beautiful new CEO.
At that time, Cole was with his friends, drinking in a lounge in the largest club in Rochernia.
Word had gotten around that Jaycie, after finding out about his plans to marry someone else, had broken up with him in anger.
No one paid much attention to it.
“She probably just couldn’t accept the fact that she would have no legal status by being with you, so she broke up with you out of spite. I heard she even quit her job a while ago. Don’t worry. Once her money runs out, she’ll come crawling back. Who else will fill the hole left by her gambling father and sick mother?”
“Exactly. Girls like her are a dime a dozen. She probably just wanted to be with you so she could have a better life. Now that her dreams have been shattered, it’s no surprise she can’t handle it. Give her some time, and then sweet–talk her back.”
“Yeah. With her background, how could she ever be your wife? She was always delusional. She’s been living a life she couldn’t
have even imagined before, just being with you.”
The mocking voices about Jaycie kept coming, one after the other. Even Cole, who had been silently nursing his drink, found the constant jabs hard to bear. His face darkened, and in one sudden motion, he slammed his glass down on the table.
Crash!
The sharp sound of shattering glass and scattered fragments silenced the room for a moment. Then, his cold, chilling voice broke through the quiet. “Are you guys done?”
