This time, Lilian had learned her lesson and was no longer obsessed over whether the bride could bear sons, instead urging Julian
to get married quickly.
However, it turned out that this wife was infertile, which infuriated Lilian, who desperately wanted grandchildren. She constantly
mocked her daughter–in–law, took all her salary, refused to cook for her, and fed her only their leftover scraps.
She even encouraged Julian to use violence, hitting his wife whenever he was displeased.
Eventually, the woman was hospitalized from the abuse, and her family demanded a divorce.
His second wife was an illiterate rural woman. This time, fertility wasn’t an issue. She gave Julian a daughter shortly after
marrying him.
However, she had a fierce temperament. She would scream at Julian at the slightest dissatisfaction. When Lilian tried to control
her, she beat her so badly that Lilian–now had trouble speaking properly.
Julian cried to me, snot and tears mixed together. “You have no idea how bad–tempered she is! If the baby cries at night, she kicks
me onto the floor and orders me to calm her down. If my mom doesn’t cook something she likes, she’ll flip the whole table in
front of everyone.
“I didn’t marry a wife. It’s like I married a boss.”
Watching Julian’s tearful performance, I felt nothing but an urge to leave immediately.
“Even the law doesn’t interfere in family matters,” I said blankly.
“We have nothing to do with each other anymore. Step aside and don’t block our way.”
Unexpectedly, Julian became furious. “Clara, do you even have a heart? We were together for so long, and I’m still the father of your child! I’m here out of kindness, offering to get back together, yet you can’t stop throwing tantrums?”
“Get back together‘?” Those words made me laugh out loud.
It was clearly I who had left him. How could he shamelessly talk about getting back together?
