Chapter 47
Gadreel’s question certainly caught Ivory off guard. She blinked, opened her mouth, then closed it.
“What?” Was what she managed on.
“Did you ever love me?” Gadreel repeated, but this time around, the question did not have the same effect as it previously did.
Ivory waved it off and went back to jolting instructions down without too much thought too it.
“That’s not important now.”
“I asked you a question, Ivory,” He reached for.her wrist, stopping her movements.
Ivory frowned a little, but didn’t push him away. Her eyes met his, her gaze holding a warning. “What are you trying to do?”
Gadreel’s frown was even deeper. “I asked you a question. Why did you marry me and put so much effort into bringing me out from my comatose state?”
Ivory’s gaze wavered, almost as if she too were trying to find the answer to that question.
After a few seconds, she answered.
“I was young, Naïve,” She smirked. “You could also say I had been kicked in the head by a donkey and made stupid for taking such a regrettable decision.”
Gadreel’s expression shifted. If one had looked closely, they’d be able to see that Ivory’s words had gotten the better of him.
He wanted to question her more, but before the words could leave her mouth, the door to the hospital ward opened and Evangeline stepped out, looking excited.
Gadreel was quick to release Ivory’s wrist and walked to Evangeline. “Eva, what happened?” He asked, gauging her expression.
Evangeline flashed him a smile. “Grandmother finally agreed to approve of our relationship!” She announced happily.
Ivory was a bit surprised to hear this and another thing besides surprise bloomed in her chest.
However, before given the chance to recognize it, she received a text message from Lucien.
[Came to pick you up. Turn around.]
Turning around, she saw him standing at the end of the hall. He smiled and waved at her.
“Grandmother seems to be feeling better,” She told Gadreel. “I’ll leave first, so please inform her for me.”

Without waiting for his response, she walked away. Gadreel followed her form and frowned subtly at the sight of Lucien.
Especially when the male placed his hand on Ivory’s shoulder as a means to lead her away,
Evangeline ever the observant, took notice of this and quickly spoke up. “I never expected sister to be like this,” She said. “Even if she’s gotten into a new relationship after your divorce, she should at least tell father. She’s been so distant lately, father misses her and even wants her to come back one of these days for a meal.”
Gadreel glanced at the hospital exist. He was silent for a few seconds almost as if considering Evangeline’s words.
Then, he suddenly asked. “What did you tell my grandmother?”
Evangeline, caught off guard, asked. “What?”
“My grandmother, you must have told her something to get her to approve of our relationship.”
Relationship? Gadreel frowned a bit at the title. He really couldn’t call it that, after all, he hasn’t asked Evangeline to be his girlfriend.
They were just too people who clearly loved each other. And that was clearly enough for them
both.
“So what was it?”
There was a look of panic that briefly crossed Evangeline’s face before she chuckled nervously.
“Just…just girl stuff.”
Gadreel frowned, but before he could ask questions, Evangeline sighed tiredly.
“I think that’s one too many events for me for the night. Could you please have the driver send me home?”
Gadreel nodded. “Sure.”
Pecking his cheek briefly, Evangeline strolled off in the direction of the exit while Gadreel watches her with a subtle frown.
Girl stuff? He wondered what type of girl stuff they had walked about to make his grandmother change her mind.
“Welcome home!”
Evangeline was greeted by her mother the moment she returned home.
“How was your day?”

“I wish I could say it was good.” Evangeline frowned. “But Ivory ruined the entire thing.” “What did that nuisance do?” Samantha asked, gently leading her daughter to the couch.
“She’s the new CEO of Elixiron,” her revelation had Samantha frowning as well as being surprised. “She hooked up with this well known doctor, Lucien Varga? He landed her the position.”
How? Samantha thought. How did Ivory, that useless child, manage to get someone so well known?
She clicked her tongue in distaste but Evangeline spoke up again before her thoughts could spiral.
“But at least one good thing came out of today.”
“And what was that?”
“I got Gadreel’s grandmother to approve of our relationship?!” She announced excitedly.
Samantha smiled. “And how did you do that miracle?”
A devious smile crossed Evangeline’s lips. “I told the old woman that I was carrying Gadreel’s child.”
Samantha was shocked. “Are you?” When Evangeline shook her head, she petted her on the
shoulder.
“It’s alright, you did good. Even though you’re not pregnant now, it doesn’t mean we can’t make it happen. Your father’s birthday is coming up, that would be our perfect opportunity to strike and we shall not let it go to waste!”
