Chapter 42
“I heard Mr. Odegaar just got a divorce, but from the looks of it, he looks like a happy man. Seems his heart truly laid with her.” Someone said.
“Ah, I envy Evangeline, but I also know she’s the perfect fit for Mr. Odegaar. An A–lister actress and the city’s top billionaire. What a perfect fit!” Another squealed.
“I’m sure they’re together, after all, Mr. Ødegaar has never brought anyone to these types of events. Not even his so called ex wife. If I were her, I would be ashamed.” Added another.
This one has caught Gadreel’s attention and although his expression remained neutral, the corners of his eyes twitched.
Ashamed? Those words seemed to bother him for some reason as Ivory’s face- against his will – flashed in his mind.
Evangeline however, was the least but bothered. The more she listened to them, the more Evangeline knew her worth in Gadreel’s life.
And she could have carried on listening and feeling this way, if not for the sudden shift in top. “Huh, who’s she?” Someone asked as a sleek back SUV pulled up by the entrance and the door was pushed open, followed shortly by a pair of diamond fitted heels, adorned by a leg, skin as fair as milk.
A hand reached out to the door and then the owner stepped out.
Evangeline froze.
What the…
Gadreel froze and his eyes took in the new Arrival
Ivory! She looked absolutely gorgeous, and the dress had a very subtle hint of sexiness.
And her face, her expression, the way her hair was done, the way her eyes gleamed with determination and the confidence she displayed.
It was as if he was looking at an entirely different person, much like the icy cold exterior he had been met with on the day of their divorce.
Without noticing, his heart felt like it had been pricked.
But Gadreel ignored that feeling and focused on the more important thing.
What was Ivory doing here? Or more–so, how had she gotten access to the only allowed too big shots?
auction venue that
Evangeline also wondered the same thing, but unlike Gadreel who didn’t act on his thoughts,
she was quick to abandon her place by his side and approached Ivory.
“Sister,” She called out, wearing a smile that looked nothing but kind on the surface, but was laced with the deeper intentions.
Ivory, who had just stepped out of her ride and intended to wait for Lucien as he had a quick call to handle, looked up at the call and immediately, she frowned.
Of all the people, why was Evangeline here?!
Her eyes darted in the direction of Gadreel and it clicked.
Of course, Gadreel was here and he had brought her along
Ivory felt the urge to roll her eyes, but schooled her expression and attempted to ignore Evangeline and walk past.
But Evangeline stepped in front of her, blocking her way.
“What are you doing in a place like this, sister?”
God, how Ivory wished she could drop that damn sister‘ bullshit!
“The same could be said for you.” She retorted in a mocking and sarcastic manner.
If Evangeline had gotten the hint in her and it bothered her, she did well to school her expression.
“Oh, Reel brought me along,” she announced happily. “He came here all for me, to buy a rare drug for me.‘
가
The smile on her lips, devilish as it was innocent, never faded and once again, she asked.
“What about you,” she eyed her, and despite the expensive looking outfit, she made a disgusted face. “What’s someone lie you doing here?”
“That’s none of your business.” Ivory sneered and tried to walk away, but Evangeline blocked her again.
Gadreel witnessed this and frowned a touch, but made no effort to intervene.
“Oh, it’s my business alright. You see as a public figure, it’s my right to see to it that the likes of people like you don’t ruin special occasions like this one. And it clear to me that you’re lost, so I’ll happily have someone escort you to a place more of your time.”
After saying this, Evangeline began looking around for a security. A smile dusted her lips as she spotted one approaching.
“Perfect,” She said and waited for the guard to be at her beck–and–call, but much to her surprise, she was completely ignored when he arrived.
“Hello Ms.,” He bowed respectfully in front of Ivory, surprising Evangeline and Gadreel,
who’s curiosity was more piqued now.
“Mr. Hutchinson’s been expecting you arrival.”
“Expecting her arrival?” Evangeline question. Who is she for the host of this auction to be expecting her arrival?‘
The guard looked at Evangeline like she had grown two head. Or better yet, like she was stupid. “Who is she? She’s the current CEO of Elixiron.”
Evangeline and Gadreel were stunned at the announcement and their expressions visibly showed it.
She was what? The current CEO of Elixiron? Ivory?
Gadreel’s eyes narrowed as he felt his curiosity spike. He was now certain that he barely knew Ivory.
Who the hell was she indeed?
“What? The CEO?” Unlike Gadreel, Evangeline expression her disbelief. “How?” She greeted. her teeth and scoffed in realization. “Tell me, which big shot did you hook up with?”
Ivory’s eyes darkened at the question, but she didn’t utter a sign word, nor did she make any effort respond.
“Ms., this way please.” Luckily, the guard spoke up and Ivory followed him.
As she walked away, Gadreel’s eyes remained trained on her. He watched as she was escorted to her side of the event and was given a seat in one of the VIP sections, several rolls from where Gadreel was seating.
For some reason, he felt like this was an obstacle, like he had missed the chance to question. Ivory.
As the Auction finally began and Gadreel, along with Evangeline, was seated, he couldn’t help but glance in her direction every now and then.
For few seconds, his gaze would linger, taking in how Prestige and elegant she looked.
But then out of nowhere, a man appeared beside her, taking the seat that had been reserved.
Gadreel watched as he leaned towards her ear and whispered something. Ivory’s lips pulled into a smile and she nodded.
The small Interaction has Gadreel’s gaze hardening and a glare was directed in their direction.
Almost as if feeling the intensity of his glare, the man looked back and a wave of recognition washed over Gadreel as he registered the man’s face as the very same man who Ivory had supposedly left the hotel with.
He couldn’t help but think, was this the big shit ory had hooked up with and gotten her position as Elixiron’s CEO?
His jaw tightened and Evangeline took notice of this.
“Reel, what’s wrong?”
“Nothing,” Came his clipped reply as he looked away. “Nothing at all.”
But despite saying this, Gadreel had other plans in mind. He needed answers, several of them and those answers he was going to get.
The auction uneventfully went on, but eventually, Gadreel saw from the corner of his eyes as Ivory got up and exited her section.
She had left her purse behind, so it was a clear sign that she wasn’t leaving, but perhaps going
to the bathroom.
This was his chance.
“I’ll be right back, Eva.” He told her and without waiting for a response, he got up and walked
OUL.
He easily found his way to the female restroom and saw the door slightly open, confirming his assumption that Ivory was here.
Pushing the door open, he walked in, or at least, wanted to, but stopped immediately.
There before him, was Ivory being held and kissed by the very same man she had come with!
