Chapter 40
Ivory nearly snatched the tablet from Camilla’s hands. With a single glance at the content, it was clear that Odexa had indeed intercepted their recent collaboration
Although the deal hasn’t been finalized, it was clear from the picture of a representative of Heinrich Cooperation and one of Odexa, shaking hands, that Heinrich Cooperation was considering partnering with Ødexa.
And she knew this was Gadreel’s doing. But why, she couldn’t place her mind on
Was this just another business move of his? Or was this a payback for the fact that she had refused the acquisition? Or was it because he had discovered her identity?
Her dream flashed in her mind once again and Ivory felt a sense of paranoia begin to creep up.
She was brought out of her thoughts by Camilla.
“Boss, what should we do?”
Ivory shook her head and sighed. “I’ll handle this,” She muttered and handed the tablet back Go on and carry out the rest of your tasks. I’ll inform you once the situation has been resolved.
“Yes, boss.” Camilla nodded and quickly walked away, leaving Ivory standing there, her hand still raised in a position that she had handed the tablet over.
And then, she sighed. Ah, fuck this. She was tired of letting Gadreel ruining her life, be it directly or indirectly.
She wanted all of it to stop and if possible, she’d love it if he’d forget she ever existed because now, she really wanted to focus on her business now.
And that included the cooperation Heinrich Cooperation!
With that, she stormed towards her office and immediately, called Lucien.
As always, he answered the phone on the second ring, sounding delighted to hear her voice.
“V, what’s up?”
Her lips parted, and for a slip second, she was about to tell him that Odexa was about to steal their newest cooperation, but knew better than to sound like a whiney, little girl who was complaining to her brother figure about her ex–husband, stealing her toy.
She needed a more professional way to put it.
“I just wanted to discuss some things with you,” She started, gently pacing the room. “I did some thinking and company data analysis and I think we need to do a better job at grabbing the attention of potential investors.”
“How so?” Lucien sounded hooked already and ory then proceeded to explain her idea to Lucien, who listened attentively..
“There’s an auction coming up, in a few days. Weran capitalize on this opportunity by showing casing and even auctioning off the company’s latest Bin–engineered device and drug combo, we
brilliant perfected,” She explained and couldn’t help but nod her head at her com
will not only gain us the attention of potential investors, but also make an impact on the pharmaceutical market and the lives of those who can afford this. Think about it, A bio engineered medical device and drug that when used together, can soft out heart problems with a 85 percent success rate? Isn’t that enough to attract anyone and everyone’s attention and make sure our future cooperation are secured?
“Nice one, V,” Lucien complimented. “This is a great plan. You’ve really put a lot of thought into this and I think you’re right. It will indeed be a great investment, not only for our future, but the lives of those who need it. Alright, I’ll arrange everything and make sure the preparations are in order.”
Ivory nodded, feeling proud of herself. “Alright, I’ll leave everything in your hands.”
“Sure thing. I’ll get on it now and update you later, okay?”
“Sure, bye.”
And just like that, Ivory had set the ball rolling for the next step of her company’s growth.
With the conversation with Lucien, her mood was significantly lifted. However, the moment the phone was down, her good mood quickly faded.
The auction, she thought with a frown, Gadreel was definitely going to be at such a big event and one way or another, she was going to run into him.
Running her fingers through her hair, she sighed.
An outcome like this was inevitable, but she couldn’t let it get to her. She had to stand her ground and remain firm, no matter the obstacle.
With that thought in mind, Ivory decided to focus entirely on her work and bury the thought of her ex husband in the back of her mind.
Gadreel sat in his office, specifically working from home today. As he flipped through a few papers, Ezekiel knocked on the door and entered, carrying a report.
‘Sir,” He greeted. “I just word from the auction house that Elixiron has decided to place their latest invention up for auction.”
He passed Gadreel the file and watched as his boss immediately began going through it after
hearing it concerned Elixiron.
“Elixiron hub,” He muttered. “And they’ll be auctioning the latest product, Essence of
Oblivion, a Bloengineered medical device and drug combo said to sort out any heart disease with a 85 percent success rate.”
His brows, previously furrowed, visibly relaxed the moment he read this.
Did that mean it could work for Evangeline and permanently fix her heart diseases?
Did that mean she no longer had to attend the second surgery?
With that, the dark clouds hovering his head suddenly cleared and Gadreel found himself smiling.
He didn’t need Arnett, if he was able to get his hand on this drug, which he would, Evangeline was going to be fine, then everything would be.
Handing the paper back to Ezekiel, he instructed. “Book me a seat.”
‘And where is this you’re going to?” Evangeline’s voice suddenly sounded out from the direction of the door.
Looking up, Gadreel was slightly taken aback by her presence. Last he had known of, she was, at the hospital, resting.
“Eva,” He attempted to get up, but she had already walked towards him and engulfed him in a hug
Gadreel suddenly stiffened at the contact, but made no effort to pull away.
“I scared you, didn’t I?” She asked against his chest, tightening her hold around his waist.
I’m sorry.
“No, Eva,” He responded and eventually brought himself to hug her back. “I should be the one apologizing. I pushed your buttons that day. If it wasn’t for me, you wouldn’t have-”
“Please don’t blame yourself, Reel. In fact, let no one blame themselves.” She flashed him an innocent smile, one that softened Gadreel’s heart
Pulling away, she redirected her attention to the matter before. “And where were you planning on going?” She glanced between Gadreel and Ezekiel.
“To the upcoming auction, Miss.” Ezekiel, as the loyal employee he was, was the one to
answer.
“Oh,” Evangeline brightened up at the mention of the auction. She had heard all about it, presumably one of the biggest auctions in town and several people were going to be there.
And Gadreel wanted to go, was his like a perfect opportunity to make their relationship
known, if she went along with him?
The corner of her lips threatened to pull up at the marvelous thought. That was a perfect way to dampen whatever Idea Ivory has and the best way to announce her position.
“Oh, I’ve heard of that,” She said, turning her attention to Gadreel. “Can I go with you, please,”
“I don’t think there’s any need to.” Gadreel gently turned down the suggestion.
“But Sir, since you’re going there to get the Drug for Ms. Remington, wouldn’t it be alright to take her along?” Ezekiel, ever the chatterbox, spoke up.
Even more, Evangeline brightened. Gadreel was going to the auction for her sake?
Ah, how she wished Ivory could see this. But worry not, for she was going to witness it, live on TV, while wallowing in the comfort of her miserable life.
“Please Elly,” Evangeline went at it again, once again, using the name she knew he was weak
- to.
The corners of Gadreel’s eyes twitched upon hearing the name, but choose not to focus on the feeling it evoked. Instead, he sighed and nodded his head.
“Alright,”
“Thank you!” Evangeline cheered and gave him another hug, which Gadreel was less stiff towards.
“I’ll get the driver to send you home. Get enough rest,” Gadreel said and stroked her head for a bit before instructing Ezekiel to take her home.
He watched as she walked out of his study, steps lighter and expression happier than he had seen in a long while.
This made him smile softly as he returned to his desk. But suddenly, a picture of Ivory’s face flashed in his mind and the smile faded.
Ah, that’s right, he thought with a frown as he glanced at his phone, he had encountered her at the hospital and then the thing with Arnett and….
Gadreel shook his head before his thoughts could stray too far.
Ivory was no longer important here. Whatever she did and whoever she does things with, was none of his concern, after all, they were now strangers and he wanted nothing doing with her. And he was going to make sure his thoughts, never strayed from that line, no matter what.
