Chapter 23
Ivory frowned.
“You what?” Drying her hand, she turned to face her phone, flinching ever so slightly when she spotted Gadreel by the kitchen entrance.
His gaze was fixed on her phone, dark and piercing, not giving her an idea on just how much he had heard.
Then it flickered to her and for a second, Ivory could have sworn her breath seized.
She blinked again, then avoided his gaze, paying more attention to her phone than him.
“What…what did you say, Em?” she asked, walking towards her phone, scooping it up from the counter and removing it from speaker phone
“I’ve got you five hot bachelors! Ready to mix and mingle at any moment. You up? Please tell me you’re up.”
For some reason, she looked at Gadreel. He was watching her, unmoving and unreadable as always.
It was such a bore and she couldn’t help but wonder why she had put up with this type of ant
attitude from him.
Well, luckily, she didn’t have to put up with it no more.
“Yes, I’ll be there, just send me an address.”
“Yess! Alright, bye.”
“Bye.”
Hanging up, Ivory slipped her phone into her back pocket and turned, ready to walk past Gadreel, but much to her surprise, he took a step in her way.
“Even the shameless have a limit, Ivory.” He said “How can you be like this when you still carry the title of my wife?”
“What, like it’s gold?” She scoffed and waved her hand, dismissing the subject and him.” Don’t give yourself too much credit, Gadreel, it’s not worth it, at all.”
She tried to walk past him, but grabbing her arm, Gadreel stopped her.
“So is that why you’re acting so shamelessly with every man you find.”
“What’s so wrong in having fun? At least they’re providing me with things you can’t.”
Gadreel was silent for a few seconds. Ivory, from how close she stood, could see the veins popping at the side of his face, but then, he laughed.
“Providing you with things I can’t,” His grip on her hand tightened. “I know exactly what you’re talking about, so, here and now, shall we change that notion of yours?”
Before she could even respond, Gadreel scooped her off the floor and effortlessly threw her over his shoulder.
“What the hell are you doing!” Ivory, who hadn’t expected this, couldn’t help but flail her legs. “Let go, Gadreel. Right this minute or I swear I’ll-”
“You’ll what?” He interrupted.
Walking out of the kitchen, Gadreel headed straight for the stairs.
“Scream, shout, make a fuss, go ahead, let’s see just how loud you can scream and shout.”
At this point, Ivory realized, Gadreel was angry and she couldn’t tell just why.
Was it because of what she had said?
“You have no right,” She hissed. “No right whatsoever to do this. If you haven’t noticed, we’re getting a divorce!”
“And if you haven’t noticed, you’re still my wife, he snapped. “My wife, Ivory, until that piece of paper is signed and registered, you are my wife, thus, I have every right to do what I’m about to do.”
He opened a door and entered a room.
The moment they were inside, the sound of the door closing resounded through the room.
Gadreel carried her to the bed and dumped her there.
Ivory looked up at him with a glare, or at least, that’s what she was aiming for. But surprise overtook her features when she saw that Gadreel was undoing the button of his shirt.
Eyes slightly wide, she asked. “What are you doing?”
“You seem to believe your husband is impotent,” Throwing his shirt on the bed beside her, he chuckled. “You even called me that earlier today. So, I’m going to prove to you, right now, just how capable I am, and I’ll keep proving it until the notion of me being impotent leaves
your mind.”
The words were spoken in such a low, dark and husky tone that Ivory felt her lower region clench.
She was no Mary Sue. She knew exactly what he meant. But at the thought of him touching her, Ivory recoiled.
Only God knew the number of times he had touched Evangeline with those hands and kissed her with those lips. She didn’t want something so disgusting touching her.
But that didn’t mean she was going to tuck tails between her legs and run away like a chicken.
She wasn’t going to give Gadreel that satisfaction and in fact, had a better way of handling
this situation.
Crossing her legs and arm above her chest, she tied her head to the side and spoke.
“You want to prove a point? Go on ahead.” Her eyes roamed his body, then she held his gaze again. “I’m waiting.”
The air in the room suddenly got thick and the tension became so suffocating that Ivory found it difficult to breathe.
But despite this, she kept her eyes fixed on him.→→
Gadreel on the other hand, stared silently at her. He hadn’t really expected her to be like this.
Like a new puzzle piece, this Ivory was stubborn and prideful, something he had not experienced from her, ever! To him, if he gave her any leeway, she would definitely use it against him.
This, what she was doing now, was just that.
It was clear, from the way her gaze held his, and her arms crossed above her chest, that she wasn’t going to relent and she was confident he wouldn’t force himself on her.
He gritted his teeth.
That damn attitude of hers…
He clenched his fists. He was already mad and seeing her so unbothered with no remorse whatsoever, was pushing his limits.
Closing his eyes, he tried to calm down, all the while instructing. “Get out.”
“What?” Ivory chuckled. “Don’t want to prove your point anymore?”
The smile on her lips, flattered the moment Gadreel opened his eyes.
He met her gaze and in a tone that sent chills down her spine, he repeated, “Get out.”
Ivory held his gaze for a few seconds before she stood up and stood in front of him.
“Here’s a piece of advice, Gadreel Odegaar, never start what you can’t finish. You’ll be seen as nothing but a disappointment.”
With that, she walked past him and out of the room. Gadreel closed his eyes at the sound of the door slamming shut and tried to calm down.
He wasn’t going to let Ivory’s shenanigans get the better of him. He was better than that, the bigger person here.
Choptriza..
All he needed to do was ensure it for the next few hours, then they’ll be divorced and he’d be free from her.
And she free from him…free to do whatever she pleases with any man of her choice.
Gadreel’s eyes opened at the thought and rather than looking calm like he had intended to be, he was more pissed.
Sighing, he ran his palm down his face, stopping just below his nose and covering his mouth area, before muttering.
“Fuck.”
