Chapter 21
Evangeline’s frown quickly turned into a look of surprise and shortly after, the sound of gaps reached Ivory’s ears.
She turned to look at everyone, arching an unbothered brow as if she had just spoken the truth.
Lionel and several of the maids who were present and had witnessed the encounter, looked at her like she had just vomited abominable words.
Whereas, the man of the subject himself, Gadreel he looked-
Oh, the smile on Ivory’s lips twitched a bit, threatening to fall the moment she saw Gadreel’s dark expression.
He….he did not look pleased with what she had just said and indeed, he wasn’t.
Gadreel wasn’t one to let his expression speak. The most useful advice his father had given him when he had still been alive, was to always keep a poker face and smile in front of his guests, Enemies or allies alike, thus, Gadreel had grown used to controlling his facial expression, keeping it neutral like his father said.
But this…this was just too much!
Ivory had crossed the line! He had controlled his temper when he saw her reason for divorce, but to assume and ruin his reputation like this, was too much.
Even a man like Gadreel had pride and this time around, Ivory had definitely crossed the line and he has had enough of her!
“Gadreel, son-” Lionel turned to him, wanting for the sake of his family’s well–being and Evangeline’s relationship with him, to pacify whatever anger he was feeling.
But those words died on the tip of his tongue as Gadreel strode past him and grabbed Ivory by
the wrist before she could even react.
Frowning, she tried pulling her wrist free, but her efforts were futile.
“Have you gone mad? Let go?”
Her words fell on deaf ear, but she kept her calm. Or at least tried to. But the very moment Gadreel began dragging her outside, she snapped.
“I said let go! Where the hell do you think you’re dragging me to! Let me go this instant or-”
“That’s enough Ivory!” Gadreel barked, coming to a stop and spinning around.
He released her, but not without a warning glare
“Not one more word.”
The threat in his words was clear and Ivory could only glare at him.
“I’ve heard enough from you so far and I think it’s about time I put an end to your shenanigans. Get in, were going to the court, you and I, and I’m going to see to it that, that divorce process is registered and completed today!”
Ivory fell silent and the glare on her face lessened. Gadreel expected at that moment, that she’d beg him to call this whole charade off, or perhaps make up an excuse to postpone the divorce, but much to his surprise, she wordlessly walked past him.
“What?”
you
When she had gotten into the backseat, she looked out the window at him. “Aren’t coming, Mr. Odegaar, or was that simply a bluff of yours?” She scoffed. “Even if it was, I have no interest in playing such games anymore, I want the divorce completed and signed as soon as possible, so get in and stop wasting both our time.”
Gadreel stood outside the car, staring silently at Ivory. At first glance, it looked like he was. simply looking, but after further glances, one would easily be able to tell that he was livid.
The veins on the side of his head and jaws were popping and his eyes had darkened, giving off a dangerous vibe.
So, she really want to go down this route? Fine, If she wish for this divorce to happen, so desperately, he’d gladly grant her wish!
Without another word, he got into the car. He closed the door and Ezekiel took off, speeding in the direction of the central court.
The air in the car remained stiff throughout the entire journey. Either Ivory nor Gadreel spoke a word and either of them glanced at the other.
Ezekiel in the front, couldn’t help but feel uncomfortable. The terror and anger radiating off Gadreel was just too much for him to handle. And genuine speaking, this was the first time he had ever seen his boss get angry over a woman.
Whatever Ivory had said, had really gotten on his nerves.
Ezekiel didn’t realize he had been staring until Ivory met his gaze in the rare view mirror.
Quickly, he looked away and cleared his throat. Thankfully, his phone rang at that moment.
He rushed to pick it, relieved that something could finally break the tension in the car.
“Ezekiel on the line,” There was a pause, a few seconds went by before Ezekiel frowned and pulled the phone away from his ear.
Muting the call, he glanced at Gadreel through the mirror.
“Sir, it’s for you. It’s your grandmother.” He informed and briefly, Gadreel’s mask softened. “ The housekeeper said she’s ill, greatly and has demanded to see you,” he paused again and looked in Ivory’s direction before adding. “Both of you.”
Ivory frowned at this Gabriella was Gadreel’s grandmother, an angel unlike her grandson,
She cannot ignore an elderly person who truly cares about her.
