Chapter 12 Three Rejections In One Day.
Ivory got home after a tiring first day at the office and collapsed on her bed.
She pulled out her phone and began scrolling through the internet. Although Camilla had assured her that all and any picture of her had been removed from the net, Ivory had decided to do a little investigation herself.
But at that very moment, her phone dinged with a notification.
A message from an app she hadn’t used for quite some time Luminary Accord’s personalized mobile app.
She clicked on the app, and it displayed her personal account.
Arnett.
That was the codename she had chosen when she joined the association, only giving those she considered close enough to her, her real name.
The frown that has been on her face as she accessed the app was immediately transformed into a look of surprise when she accessed the message and saw it was a message from the bot admin containing an invite to one of Luminary’s upcoming seminar.
She smiled faintly at this, after all, it sounded like a great opportunity to see those who she hasn’t seen in years. Even her master.
Well, she’d have to check the date and make sure she doesnt have any important business on that day.
With that thought in mind, she was about to exit the app when another notification, nearly 10 hours old, caught her attention.
She clicked on the message notification and immediately, a look of surprise took over her entire face as she saw the person who had added her.
Although the profile picture was merely a white background and a codename that never seemed to make an impression, Ivory immediately recognized the user.
Luminary’s very own star and the person she had once considered her Idol, Helix, or in other words, Gadreel Odegaar.
A second passed and the frown on her face seemed to deepen as she stared at the request, with one question roarning her mind.
Why was Gadreel suddenly sending her a friend request?
She recalled when she had newly joined Luminary and gotten access to the app, she had sent him a request and even a message, yet, he didn’t reply.
So why now, was he sending her a friend request?
Ivory bit the inside of her mouth and stared hard at his username.
Her first thought was to accept the request and see what he wanted, after all, he didn’t know Arnett was her. But less than a second later, she rebuked such an idea. Even though he had sent her a friend request, she now wanted nothing to do with him, nor was she interested in talking to him.
He was a part of the past that had hurt her, and the future, was one she had no plan on involving him in, be it as Arnett, Ivory, or the CEO of Elixiron
Thus, without an ounce of hesitation, Ivory hit the Red Cross and denied the friend request.

And she watched as the message, ‘You have denied the request.‘, displayed itself in bold, red letters across her
screen
Tossing her phone aside, she stood up and was about to head into the shower for the night, when he phone began ringing.
A smile settled on her lips at the sight of Lucien’s name and number written across her screen and at once, she reached for her phone.
“Lucien, hey,” She answer, placing the phone on speaker while she started cleansing the light makeup she had worn. “What’s up?”
“I need a favor from you, V.” Lucien said.
“Shot, I’m listening.”
“A client of mine needs instructions and a thorough check for a heart disease surgery. Unfortunately I’m not in town, think you can cover for me?”
Ivory pause and glanced at her phone. “Cover for you?”
“Yeah, you just need to go in my stead. And besides, those old geezers, their little rebellion won’t stay quiet forever. Even with my backing, you’ll need to prove your worth. This can be the perfect way, but only if you want to. So, you up for it?”
Was she up for a heart surgery?
Of course she was up for it, after all, the situation only seem to look like it was going to benefit her.
“Yes, I am.” She replied.
“Great.” Lucien sounded relieved and happy. “I’ll send you the location and details. Be sure to arrive on time tomorrow, okay?”
“Okay,” Ivory replied with a smile on her lips, unaware of the fact that if she knew what was going to happen the following day, that smile would have completely died of her lips.
Gadreel, walking out of the conference room after having handled the urgent matter that interrupted his time with Evangeline, felt his phone vibrate and reached Into the pocket of his suit.
A frown Immediately marred his face when he saw the notification from Luminary’s mobile app, telling him that his friend request had been denied.
Two rejections in one day; Gadreel couldn’t help but grit his teeth.
“Mr. Odegaar,” Ezekiel’s voice sounded from behind him. The assistant approached, carrying a folder in his hand and a gloomy look on his face. “Elixiron still refuses.”
Three rejections in one day, talk about record breaking
Expression darkening, Gadreel pushed the door to his office open and stormed in
Today wasn’t his day, now was it? He thought, feeling his mood deteriorate more than it already had.
Ezekiel, feeling the palpable tension and bad mood radiating off his boss, shrank back in hopes of not being caught in the cross fire.
That bubble, unfortunately, was busted when Gadreel sank into his seat and fixed his cold blue eyes on him.

“Tell me, Ezekiel,” he began, those words were enough to let Ezekiel know, whatever his boss was about to say, would not be good.
“Do people still see me as the same man I was five years ago? Do people still fear me? Or has the Odegaar name lost it’s influence?”
Ezekiel didn’t have to think twice about his answer. “Yes, Sir. You’re still the same, feared and respected Gadreel Odegaar. No one dares to go against you.”
“Then,” Gadreel gently tapped his finger on the table, thinking about the two events that seemed to have angered him the most. “Why does Elixiron have the guts to deny my acquisition? And why did someone dare reject my friend request?”
“Well,” Ezekiel wasn’t sure what his boss was aiming for with his questions, thus, he became speechless, stuttering on his words every now and then.
At last, he settled for, “Perhaps this is their trick of getting your attention, Sir. Not many is privileged to be in your line of attention and when given such privilege, they would want to hold on to it for as long as possible, thus, the little games they’re playing ”
He smile Immediately after that explanation, but Gadreel could tell it was a forced one. He could also tell each and every word that had just come out of his mouth was nothing but pretty flattery.
Massaging his temple, he sighed. “Keep pushing the acquisition with Elixiron,” He instructed. “Double the price if that’s what it would take to close the deal.” He said, confident in the power of his money.
“Double the price, more than we already have?” Ezekiel’s eyes widened. He couldn’t believe his boss wanted to raise the price more than they already had.
Was he that desperate to get his hands on Elixiron?
“Did I stutter?” Gadreel asked, raising a brow, with an expression on his face that silenced whatever opinion Ezekiel had.
–“No Sir.” He opted for.
“Good, now, get me cup of coffee.”
Ezekiel bowed and left seconds later, while Gadreel rolled up the sleeves of his shirt and got to work.
A little while later, Ezekiel returned with the cup of coffee and Gadreel took of sip of it.
Instantly, he frowned and looked at the beverage in his cup.
It was coffee alright, but not just THE coffee he was used to
Not the type of Coffee Ivory brewed for him.
A throbbing pain at the side of his head had Gadreel placing the cup down and sighing deeply, especially when he recalled he still had a divorce matter hanging over his head like a looming cloud..
“Ezeldel, get across to Dylan.”
Dylan was his lawyer. The best in the whole of France, if many were to be asked.
“Have him prepare a new set of divorce agreement, with different reasons for the divorce and have it sent over to Ivory. As for compensation, 500 million and the Vila in Monaco.”
Ezekiel who was jolting all this down, paused the moment he heard the figure for the compensation that had been

He looked at his boss, more surprised than he ever had. “sob million Euros, Sir?” He couldn’t keep the disbelief from his voice.
500 Million was a large sum. Not something anyone could have just easily said.
But to Gadreel, it was no big deal. He considered that sum a well enough compensation for all the years she had spent taking care of him.
Although he did not love her and didn’t see a future where something like him developing feelings for her was possible, he knew she had sacrificed her degree in college and several years of her life to nurse him back to health.
Making life difficult for her wasn’t going to benefit him in anyway and he had no time to focus on such trivia matters, especially with the acquisition of Elixiron at hand.
“Is there a problem?” He asked, seeing how his assistant was staring at him.
“No sir, none.” Ezekiel quickly recovered, jotting down the amount. “I’ll get the documents sent to Miss Ivory first thing in the morning.”
“Very well,”
Ezekiel excused himself and left, leaving Gadreel alone. His phone rang at that very moment and the frown on his face seemed to disappear at the sight of Evangeline’s name
He answered It, placing her on speaker, while taking the liberty of getting back to work.
“Reel!” Her cheerful voice echoed around the office. “You won’t believe what just happened!”
“Tell me, Eva, what happened?” He couldn’t help the smile that appeared at the corners of his lips at the sound of her voice.
“I just got a call from the hospital. They say the treatment for my heart surgery is now possible because they were able to get in touch with doctor A. She’s really coming and will perform the surgery on me!”
Doctor A, or A as many liked to call her, was a faceless, but well known personnel in the medical field. Many had heard of the wonders she’s worked as she loved up to being the last disciples of Elias Wrenford, a medical genius. However, five years ago, she had suddenly disappeared and the world stopped hearing of the miracles she performs.
But now she was back!
This was the first good news of the day and it had Gadreel relaxing ever so slightly.
“Really? That’s great.” He could hear the excitement in her voice and couldn’t help but feel a little bit relieved himself.
With her heart fixed, Evangeline could fully pursue her dream in acting without worries.
“I’m so happy, Reel.”
“So am L”
“Then, will you accompany me to the hospital tomorrow?”
Gadreel paused and glanced at his phone. He was silent for a few seconds before nodding, even though she couldn’t see him.
“Of course I will.” He smiled. “Besides, I have to personally thank the doctor. After all, she is the reason why my

Evangeline is going to be whole again.”
“You don’t have to do that, Reel,”
“I do”
Evangeline giggled. “Okay. I’m going to bed now. Good night,
“Goodnight, Evangeline.”
Reel.”
Hearing the sound of the call disconnecting, Gadreel leaned back on his seat and closed his eyes, a small smile playing at the corner of his lips.
His heart felt lighter, and the tension in his head seemed to have disappeared.
It was great knowing that things were going fine on Evangeline’s path, so much so that Gadreel felt that as long as Evangeline could be saved, he was willing to pay any price
Whatever it may be.
