“What did you say?” In the office, Gadiel looked at the trembling life assistant. Just now, his assistant told him that the private detective they sent had had a finger cut off and the private detective also brought back a message.
“Gardiel, your ownership of the ivory has expired. Otherwise, I would be happy to make you lose all your chips at
the card table.”
Gadriel clenched his fist. Who is Ivory? She is the unloved eldest daughter of the Remington family. She is illiterate and was forced to drop out of school because of her foolishness in failing the final exam. However, when he was about to investigate her, he discovered that the man behind her was incredibly powerful.
Who would fall in love with a woman as dull as Ivory?
Just then, his work assistant walked in.
“Sir, our latest sales survey report for this year is now available,” Ezikiel announced as he entered the room. “Very well,” Gadriel replied, and then dismissed the life assistant. He now had to focus on Ivan’s surgery. “Elixiron,” he began, fixing his gaze on Ezekiel who dropped all he was doing. “What’s the update on them?”
“Ah, well,” He suddenly began avoiding Gadreel’s eyes, which didn’t sit well with him.
“Speak up.” He ordered.
“I just got feedback from the Assistant of Elixiron’s new CEO. They rejected the request of appointment.” Ezekiel finally managed to speak, although with hesitation.
Gadreel’s brows furrowed and a dark shadow fell over his eyes. Rejected his offer? Who the hell did Elixiron think they were?
He had tried to approach them in a peaceful way and now they were playing hard to get?
Gadreel was intrigued, but not in the good way. Rather, he was intrigued in a way, fumed by anger and fury from *his very first business rejection
Slamming the current file in his hand shut, Gadreel stood up and grabbed his coat off the hanger.
He wanted to see the face of the person who dared to reject his proposal!
“Sir?” Ezekiel, although sensing the anger radiating off his boss, couldn’t help but ask “Are you heading out? Where to, Sir?”
“Elixiron,” Was his curt answer as he walked towards the door. “Prepare the car and-” the rest of his words died on the tip of his tongue as he pulled open his office door and nearly came face–to–knuckle with a woman’s fist.
“Oops,” the woman apologized as she withdrew her hand and tucked it into her coat. “I almost hit your face.”
Gadreel looked at the woman, his gaze sweeping over her, from the top of her head, covered with a gray wool hat, her pale skin, red lips, slim figure despite her age was accentuated by the grey trench coat she wore and finally down to her high heels
“Madam Blythe,” He addressed her. “What brings you to my company?”
“Pleasure seeing you too, Gadreel” Veronica Blythe sassed. “And thank you for certainly inviting me in before questioning me.”
She added while shamelessly making her way into his office, Gadreel had to take a few steps back to provide space for her, but it didn’t sit well with him, hence his frown.

“What are you doing here?” He questioned.

“What a rude young man,” Veronica sighed dramatically, shaking her head. “You don’t greet a woman when she enters your office, you question her. What a shame. Are you sure you’re the very same Gadreel that schooled in my Academy?”
Her words had Gadreel grinding his teeth. This woman was always like this.
The woman by name is Veronica Blythe, Current Dean of The Luminary Accord, or TLA as most of its members. call it. It’s a prestigious, invitation–only network of the world’s top medical minds, including researchers, physicians, innovators, and healthcare executives. Established to foster groundbreaking collaboration, it operates under a veil of secrecy to ensure its members can work freely without political or corporate interference.
The organization’s primary mission is to tackle the most pressing medical challenges of humanity, ranging from eradicating pandemics to addressing rare genetic disorders, while maintaining ethical and scientific integrity.
And Gadreel happened to have gone there. In fact, he was the top of the class, the star as most people called him.
But that didn’t mean he was all buddy with anyone. Thus, seeing Veronica Blythe, arguably his most hated Dean, pop into his office, when he had pressing matters to attend to, wasn’t really a welcoming presence.
“I don’t have time for your this, Madam Blythe. Speak what you came to say and get out.”
Veronica laughed and turned to face him.
“You really are a straight forward man, huh? I’ve always liked that about you. But alas, I’m here on a very serious matter, so please, do us both a favor and sit down, would you?”
Gadreel, although not happy, complied and took a seat, knowing that if he insisted otherwise, Veronica was going nowhere.
“I’m listening.
“Luminary Accord is having a seminar in town,” Veronica began, sitting opposite him and leaning back. “And you my dear, have been invited.”
She pulled out an envelope, beige and golden in color, and placed it on the table between them.
Gadreel took one look at it and flat out rejected it. “I’m busy with more important things, Madam Blythe, so unfortunately I won’t be coming” He said, matter–of–factly.
He couldn’t possibly leave running his company, closing the deal on Elixiron, finding a doctor to tear Evangeline or the right drug for her, to go to a seminar.
No part of that sounded beneficial to him.
“What?” Veronica looked truly displeased. “And here I was thinking I could match you up with the star of Luminary.
“The star?” Gadreel suddenly asked.
Now get this, he was no fan of titles or things of sort, but to hear that someone had taken his supposed title was a surprise, one that quickly grabbed Gadreel attention
Veronica, noticing this, nodded. “Yes, she came into Luminary a few years after you graduated. Broke one third of your record and even tied some. And get this, she’s the last disciples of Doctor Wrenford.”
Yet again, Gadreel’s attention was piqued. Elias Wrenford was a legend in the medical field, specifically the aspect of heart surgeries. Many have heard of his work and admired him.

I dare say, even Gadreel admires and see him as an idol. If not for the fact that he needed to take over the family business, Gadreel would have become like Elias Wrenford
So to hear that same ‘Star‘, was his supposed Idol’s last disciple, well, Gadreel couldn’t help but he curious.
“She’s a very impressive lady, skilled in cardiothoracic department just like her master and get this,” Veronica smiled, a knowing smile. “She’s going to be at the seminar.
Gadreel was silent, but his expression said enough. Hearing that this star, whatever her name was, was the last disciple of Elias Wrenford, was skilled in the Cardiothoracic department and was also going to be at the seminar, was definitely the universe sending him help.
If he were to meet this star, he was sure he’d be able to convince her to work on Evangeline’s surgery.
He couldn’t miss such an opportunity.
“But seeing as you’re not coming-” Veronica began, but almost immediately, ‘Gadreel interrupted her.
“I’ll be there.” He said.
Veronica looked pleased by this. “Wonderful,” She said and stood. “Then I’ll be on the look out for your pretty face, Gadreel,”
She turned to leave, but stopped. “Ah,” walking over to him, she held out her hand. “Phone please.”
Gadreel frowned. “What?”
“Your phone.” Veronica repeated.
Gadreel didn’t bulge at first, but after a few seconds, he sighed and placed his phone in her hand.
She handed it back to him after a little while. “That’s her contact info,” She informed, turning on her heels and heading for the door. “You’re her senior, so you be good to her okay?”
Without waiting for an answer, she was gone, leaving Gadreel to stare at the contact that had been sent to him.
He clicked on it and was redirected to a personal profile page on Luminary very own mobile app.
Immediately, he frowned at the profile picture. A panda eating bamboo shoot.
Was this the person who had stolen his seat? The last disciple of Elias Wrenford?
Scrolling down the profile, he saw her name.
“Arnett,”
It had a nice ring to it and he stared at the name for a few seconds before hitting the add button.
“Sir,” Ezekiel called out. “The car…”
Ah, that’s right, Elixiron. But right now, Gadreel didn’t feel like ruining his mood any further.
He felt like he had just made a break through and wanted to focus more on that. Elixiron could be dealt with some other time.
“Forget that. Instead, get me every information you can on Arnett.”
