“Yes, it’s all my fault. I lost my child, and I can’t ever have any more children. My right hand is crippled now, and I will never be able to hold a scalpel again!
“Oh, how precious your Wendy is… I merely went to hell and back, but she nearly lost her career!”
My best friend, Beth, had seen enough. She ran over to help me up before glaring at Steven.
“When are you going to stop torturing Yelena? When she lost her child–and we didn’t even know if she would make it out alive- you were prancing around town with your beloved first love! And now you came all the way to her birthday party to yell at her?”
Steven looked at Beth in disgust.
“I remember you. You were the one who locked Wendy in the storeroom when you two went to return the gym equipment! And you were also the one who locked her in the abandoned classroom so she would miss the competition! Admit it! Yelena was the one who had you do all that, right?”
Beth had a fiery temper, so it was no surprise when she spat at him.
“Excuse me? I don’t have time to waste on a fake bitch like Wendy! Yelena is nothing like how you described her to be!”
That was when our class president stepped forward.
“After Wendy got locked in the storeroom, our gym teacher went to investigate and discovered that the lock had rusted.
Consequently, the lock often jammed. He took Wendy back there to prove it to her and confirmed that no one intentionally locked
her in.”
Steven clearly did not believe any of that.
“Then what about the day of the competition? Don’t tell me the classroom door was also jammed? Why would she go to the
abandoned classroom for no reason?”
Beth scoffed. “There are cameras outside each classroom. You’re free to check the footage rather than listening to the fake bitch’s
side of the story!”
A woman from our class spoke up right then.
“I… I often saw Wendy go into that classroom with another guy, but I never said anything…‘
This classmate was quite introverted and barely had much of a presence in our class. I never would’ve expected her to speak up on
my behalf.
Her next words, however, dropped an even bigger bombshell.
