Chapter 7
I sobbed as I tried to pick up the small pile of ashes, but they only slipped through my fingers like sand.
Before I succumbed to the anaesthesia, I had begged the doctors to help me preserve the remains of my baby so I could have them
cremated. Then, I would be able to carry the ashes close to my heart every day.
Yet, my baby boy was now scattered all around because of his bastard of a father.

“Oh, how precious your Wendy is… I merely went to hell and back, but she nearly lost her career!”
My best friend, Beth, had seen enough. She ran over to help me up before glaring at Steven.
“When are you going to stop torturing Yelena? When she lost her child–and we didn’t even know if she would make it out alive- you were prancing around town with your beloved first love! And now you came all the way to her birthday party to yell at her?”
Steven looked at Beth in disgust.
