Chapter 6
The dance ended, and the crowd dispersed. Elliot let go of my hand.
Suddenly, Nathan grabbed my wrist. He glanced around, and seeing that no one was watching, he lowered his voice with a hint of accusation to say, “Are you really that close with Elliot? Why were you blushing while dancing with him?”
I shook off his hand and refused to look at him. “What’s it to you? Ex–boyfriend.”
Nathan furrowed his brows tightly. “I’m just trying to warn you. Stay away from Elliot. You two don’t belong in the same world.”
I scoffed lightly. “I don’t know if we belong in the same world, but you and I definitely don’t. Nathan, stop interfering in my life.
You’re not in a position to.”
Though I tried hard to keep my voice steady, my body couldn’t stop trembling. Nevertheless, I straightened my back, determined
not to let him see my weakness.
Nathan stared at me for a moment before sighing. “Fine, I won’t interfere. But I hope you’ll keep our past to yourself.”
I gave a cold laugh. So that was what this was about. He was worried I’d get too close to Elliot and end up telling him about our past relationship, potentially ruining his chances with Bianca.
Nathan’s eyes flickered, and for the first time, I realized how unworthy my three–year relationship with him had been.
“Don’t worry, I won’t say anything. After all, I…”
Before I could finish my sentence, Nathan’s gaze softened. “I know you love me. If Bianca hadn’t come back, I would have been willing to stay with you. But, Sienna, feelings can’t be forced. You love me, but I also love Bianca. I hope you understand.”
I couldn’t understand.
If he loved Bianca so much, why did he allow himself to be with me for three years? It seemed his love was just as casual and
cheap as those diamonds.
Before I could speak, Bianca suddenly rushed over, her eyes sparkling as she grabbed my hand to pull me away.
“Come on, Sienna, let’s go watch the fireworks! Nathan arranged them for me!”
I instinctively wanted to refuse but didn’t know how to say it.
