“The groom is here!”
“It’s Ryan!”
I turned my head in shock.
Blinking, I confirmed that the face before me was indeed Ryan’s–not looking particularly pleased. He glared at me, and yet, for some reason, I felt a strange sense of security.
Ryan clicked his tongue in annoyance, scanned the crowd, and smirked. “Natalie, I warned you ages ago. Your taste in men is awful.”
Quentin, still holding Olivia, stepped forward. His expression soured when he saw Ryan.
Olivia was stunned at first but quickly recovered and pouted as she approached Ryan. “Ryan, you really came? I thought you hated Natalie. You did say before that you despise women who chase wealth.”
Ryan tightened his grip around my waist. “I did. My preferences have never changed.”
A flicker of disappointment passed through me.
Olivia’s face brightened, thinking she had won, and she opened her mouth to continue. However, before she could speak, Ryan
reached out and shoved her aside.
“You’re in my wife’s way.”
My wife.
The words rang in my ears.
Quentin narrowed his eyes, warning him, “Ryan, this wedding was supposed to be for Natalie.”
Ryan gave him a lazy, unimpressed glance. Tension crackled between them.
“And I’m the groom. Did you need a reminder? Quentin, are you here to steal the bride?” He smirked. “In front of… your precious
Olivia?”
Quentin stiffened. Olivia pinched his arm, snapping him back to his senses. He forced a casual shrug.
“Of course not. I just hope you know exactly what kind of woman you’re marrying. Don’t regret it later.”
Ryan let out a low chuckle. His smile was unreadable.
“Regret? I’m absolutely thrilled.”
Then, he looked straight at me.

“Natalie, will you marry me?”

I stared into his deep, unfathomable eyes. To Quentin, I was a woman he’d regret marrying. But to Ryan–what kind of woman was I to him? A gold–digger? A social climber?
With everyone watching, I nodded.
“I will.”
