Chapter 35
Andera’s pov
My board members accepted Thane’s suggestions. The D. E. C’s initiative to power small towns in Washington had kick–started.
We were making good progress so far.
My father had stayed with us for five fun–filled days. It was just like we used to be, him taking Tim and Tiffy to the park and zoo, showering them both with many gifts. Not to mention the heels he had gotten Tiffany, she tried them out every day before bed,
pretending to be walking the red carpet.
Father had made videos of everything; my heart tightened whenever I saw him holding his camera to capture the moment. I knew
he wanted to have these memories when he goes back to Boston, I can’t wait to finish the business I started so we all could be
together.
Thankfully, Timmy and Tiffany didn’t ask about when their daddy would come back from his ‘travels“. I knew the question would
pop up soon; I would find a way to put it off until they were old enough to know the truth.
Or until Thane found out himself.
I shuddered.
I don’t know why I have been getting these nagging thoughts lately. It’s probably because of Thane’s deceleration on how he wants me to be his wife again. If he found out that we had had children. His children, his heirs… I doubt a small office confrontation would be his approach. He could even take me to court. I dreaded what he would do.
More reason why I need to be more careful and speed up this plan. Once we’re out of Seattle, everything will be fine. I ignored the
dull ache in my chest at the thought of leaving Seattle.
It’s better this way.
Nine weeks more and I will be saying goodbye to Thane’s sorry face.
“I’m tired, mommy,” Tiffany slurred this morning during her bath. I had been giving more vitamins as Doctor Smith advised. They had found nothing wrong with Tiffany, but this was the third time she complained about being tired, even her movements
and activities were slow and dull.
I didn’t know what to do, send her to school like this or let her rest at home for today.
Would it go on like this? With her waking up on a random morning drained of energy?
“Does any part of your body hurt, sweetie?” I asked
“No, Mommy, I just want to lie down and sleep some more”
Worry filled my face. Timmy’s eyes mirrored my expression.

“Let’s get you to bed.” Timmy offered his hand to his sister. I watched him lead her to their room.
The third time they are both missing school because of this, I need to see a Children’s specialist.
I made a mental note to research the best in Washington right after I called Rosa.
Hey, Rosa
“Andera. How are you doing? Getting ready for work?” She answers from the other side of the line
“That’s the thing. Tiffany’s feeling exhausted again, I’m scared she’ll faint if I take her to school, so I won’t be able to go to the
office today”
“oh, no. Andera. I’m supposed to pick my brother up from the airport today. “I could hear her sigh from her end.
I had forgotten about that. Last week, Rosa mentioned her brother would be coming to Seattle. I have known Rosa for five years,
but never once seen her eldest brother. He is a tourism photographer and is always traveling around the world, capturing exotic
images and places.
“I’m sorry Rosa. I forgot about that. Go pick him up; I’ll message the staff to let them know of our absence today.”
She hesitated for a moment. “Alright Andera. I’ll see you once I get back”
Sure thing Rosa.
I ended the call and quickly sent the vice president of operations a text, telling him about Rosa’s absence and how I planned for
the day to go as normally as if either of us were around.
After that, I checked on Tiffany. She was fast asleep, with no change in her body temperature. She’s usually better once she takes a long sleep but still, I can’t live with my girl being fatigued all the time.
Timmy was sitting by her side, darting his gaze from the storybook in his hand to his sister’s peaceful features.
My heart swelled with love.
I walked to my home office and turned on my computer, then I began searching for children’s specialists all over Washington DC
and America.
After nearly an hour of searching, I found some of the best and wrote out their names, hospital addresses, and emails.
One of the specialists was very close to me here in Seattle. I tried booking an immediate appointment but I couldn’t get a hold of
him until a week.
The others weren’t better, it was either I couldn’t get an appointment at all, or it would take more than two weeks. I settled for the doctor here in Seattle. Doctor Rahim Rajah.
An hour passed, and Tiffany was still fast asleep, and so was Timmy. I picked up the storybook from where it had fallen off his
hands to the floor and placed it on a bookshelf.

With some time to myself, I picked up the culinary recipe book and headed into the kitchen. I already have everything I will need
for the treat I plan on making for my dessert.
Flour, eggs, baking powder, and a host of other things.
Today, I’m making red velvet cake and chocolate cake. I want to start improving my baking skills. In four months. It will Tim
and Tiffy’s birthday. My babies would be turning five years old, and I have every intention of making their cake myself.
How fast the years flew. I can still vividly remember what they looked like when they were born; both very tiny with red cheeks
and hungry mouths.
Outside the doorbells ring. I placed the dough into the oven and turned it on. It’s definitely Rosa, so I didn’t bother wiping the
flour off my face or apron.
But when I open the door, onyx eyes so deep and dark stare back at me.
Closed–cropped hair, olive skin, cheekbones so sharp it could cut. His small smile sent my cheeks turning crimson, this man is
handsome, almost as handsome as…
He reached for my flour–covered hand and placed a soft kiss on it.
“Ciao, Bella Donna”
