Chapter 21
Andera’s pov.
I dashed through the hospital’s sliding doors, my heart pounding in my chest.

The few minutes spent talking with Thane felt like an eternity, delaying me from knowing what state my daughter – our daughter
Was in.
Under different circumstances, I would have stood longer to demand from Thane why in God’s green earth he was stalking me,
but there was too much to risk.
I couldn’t let him get any clues about Tiffany.
I will deal with Thane later. Right now all I am concerned about is seeing my girl. The elevator stops, and I follow the directions I
got from the nurse, the one who was in such a hurry to end her shift; she barely finished talking to me before walking out.
I get to the hospital room and close my hand around the door knob.
To say I’m terrified would be an understatement. I’m scared shitless, the dread in my stomach is consuming me, eating up the
tranquility in my soul. I pushed the door open. My eyes find hers first. Her hazel eyes stared brightly back at me, and I nearly
howled in relief, but I didn’t. I still don’t know if she’s fine or not.

Tiffany is lying on the bed, in her school uniform, and big pink bows on her hair; she is smiling at something Timmy just
whispered in her ears.
Timmy’s here too?
“Mommy, “They both call in unison. My legs move so fast that I’m at Tiffany’s side in a heartbeat. Hugging her and pulling back to inspect between hugs, then hugging them both. I turned towards Tiffany.
“Are you alright?
“What happened?”
Their teacher’s head shot up when I started asking Tiffany questions. The lady was dosing away on a chair in a corner of the
hospital room
“Ms Campbell.” She says as a way of greeting.
“Mommy.”
“Tiffany whispered faintly, eyes darting from me to her teacher.
She was looking a bit tired but otherwise fine. There were no IV lines connected to her veins, no bandages plastered on her body, and no injuries 1 could see. I hugged her again, and the tears I’d been pushing back came, but I swiftly wiped them from my face.
My angels ” I whispered. Timmy pulled closer to me; he looked at me with his gray eyes and gave a small smile.
“I didn’t let them separate us, mommy. When Tiffany fainted, I cried and cried to follow her to the hospital. I couldn’t let her go

I smiled back at him. My little protective man. “That’s a good thing you did there Tim. You’re always looking after your sister.
I’m so proud of you.” I pressed a kiss to his forehead.
‘I feel a little bit tired. “Tiffany slurred. My attention returned to her.
Okay, sweetie. Get some sleep.
How did it happen?” This time, my questions were directed at the teacher who kept pushing her glasses down the bridge of her
nose.
“We were doing some coloring, and another girl in my class, Sybil, took one of Tiffany’s colored pencils. In their arguments, she
just fainted.”
I listened calmly, wondering why two little girls in her custody would get into an argument under her watch, but I didn’t say it.
She already looked very nervous standing in front of me.
“Did they get into a fight?”
y wasn’t even touched before she fainted.
“No, not at all. Tiffany
I processed everything their teacher just said and compared it with the very first time Tiffy fainted. Both times nothing serious
had happened.
Could Tiffany have a fainting spell?
The doctor came in a few minutes later
“Hello, Ms Campbell; I’m Doctor Smith. We’re still running some tests, but Tiffany might have an infection or a minor allergic
reaction. We’ll know more once the test results come in.”
“What can be done to help her?” I asked.
Dr. Smith smiled. “Just make sure she gets plenty of rest and fluids. We’ll schedule a follow–up appointment in two weeks to run
some more tests.”
I wasn’t satisfied, but I’ll have to do with that for now.
As the day drew to a close, we drove back home.
Tiffany was still tired, so I made them both go to bed very early. If her tiredness persists by morning, she would have to skip
school, and that means Timmy would also be skipping too.
They’re both inseparable.
I tucked Tiffany and Timmy into bed, feeling grateful that they were both safe and sound. At least, Tiffany was okay for now, her

medical test results would determine what her situation was, and there was nothing I wouldn’t do to see my baby healthy.
I sat down on the couch in my living room, very much exhausted but relieved.
Now that the kids were asleep, the company closed, and Rosa had given me a summary of the day’s work when she stopped by, I
could attend to other matters.
Matters of Thane stalking me.
My anger and frustration rumbled. Why did he follow me to the hospital? He wasn’t even supposed to be around by then, except
he had this planned. To trail me.
No…. that doesn’t make any sense. And there’s also the issue of Melissa.
Just how many more surprises can I take from this man?
My mind went back to what Thane had said earlier. I want to believe that he had schemed with Melissa to frame me, it would help me straighten my conflicting feelings where it concerns him. It would also ease the small guilt that always troubled me whenever 1,remembered my plans of revenge.
But I know Thane, he may be many things, but a liar is not one of them.
Does it make it less painful? Bloody no. Even if they didn’t frame me up, it still hurts to know that he had gone back right to her.
I shook my head sideways, too many thoughts and emotions swarmed me up. I couldn’t trust the way I felt right now. All I know
is that I needed to protect myself and my children from Thane’s games, and I couldn’t let him hover around me till my final blow;
there must be something I could do, as in, right now..
I quickly grabbed my phone and dialed Thane’s number. He answered on the first ring,
“Andera?” his baritone voice was deeper, richly so, in a sleep–husked manner. I swallowed, already recognizing my mistake.
Thane’s sleepy voice is one of my biggest weakness….. was one of my biggest weaknesses.
I tried to steady my head. “Why were you following me earlier today?”
I could hear the ruffle of sheets from his end. Was Melissa there too? Did she know Thane was talking to me at this hour of the night? My lips curled upward. I could imagine her throwing a tantrum.
“Andera, I’m going to answer your question, if only you answer mine.” His voice came out low and gravelly in a way that sent heat coursing through me.
“Fine.” There was a tense pause on his end; I could hear his heavy breathing, and against better judgment, I started to imagine Thane in bed, with nothing but his sweatpants, leaving his rock–hard abs bare.
“Andera, are you…… sick?” he asked, his voice laced with concern.”
“No, I’m not sick. “I said quickly. “Now answer my question.

Thane released a long sigh.

You don’t know how glad I am that you’re not sick when you told me you fainted and were hospitalized that…that day, I started thinking of the worst possible things, I couldn’t help myself when you stormed into your car and your face was creased with
worry, then you went into a hospital. I needed to know, Andera. I needed to know that you’re okay.”
Heat pooled up in my cheeks, my body, my core.
Hearings Thane’s tempting voice full of worry over… me? He admitted to following me out of concern. My body responded in the
worst of ways.
My brain kept screaming that this was the same person who treated me like a piece of trash. But my mind and body had different
opinions and different responses when it came to this man.
He continued, unaware of the way his voice and concern were affecting me.
“Andera, I was extremely distressed and …
I ended the call, but it was too late. The deed was already done.
I just got turned on, by bloody Thane..
