join her there, I have to pick up Timmy and Tiffany.
I’m already running late, and my kids would be waiting; I would have made it earlier on time if it hadn’t been for Thane.
My mind drifts back to minutes ago when he slammed me into his chest and also pinned me against the wall; my blood boils at
the thought, and I want nothing more than to kick him in the balls.
What is the next step to my revenge again? I check my notepad. Identify weak points. Right. I would have achieved that today if
our meeting had played out right.
God, Thane is such a piece of work.
I step out of the car, and into the school; children run around, playing and laughing as I search for mine.
“Mommy!
I would recognize that voice anywhere. Timmy, my little man. He runs towards me, almost tripping in the process, and I bring my
hand to my mouth in relief. I catch him just as he leaps forward and squeezes him close to me.
“How was school, sweetie? I smile sweetly at my son.
His chubby cheeks fall to a frown.
“What’s the matter Tim, and where’s Tiffany?” I looked around, trying to see If she was in sight. Timmy’s gray eyes grew wide the moment I mentioned his sister. My mind races a mile a minute. What could have happened?
“I don’t know where she is, Mommy, they took her away. “Tears roll down to his chin, and my heartbeat doubles.
“They? Who took her away Timmy?
“Hello, ma’am. “Their teacher greets me with a nervous smile, wearing glasses too big for her face. I don’t have the grace to
respond, I’m only interested in knowing where my daughter is.
“Where’s Tiffany?” My voice is stern.
The woman swallows and coughs lightly, sweat trickling down her face
“She’s with the school nurse, you might want to come with me.”
My stomach plummets to the floor.
I am led to the school nurse’s office. Apprehension makes my insides churn, but I remain calm. Timmy is with me, and he’s very observant, I don’t want to flare up in front of him, but by God, if anything happened to my little girl under her teacher’s watch…….

when I draw back to take a good look at her; she’s not hurt, no injuries,
“What happened?” My questions are directed to the nurse.
“She fainted ma’am. But not to worry, It’s most likely fatigue. “The nurse answers me warmly.
I exhale as I hug my children. They’re both fine; it’s just fatigue; I have nothing to worry about.

Alright Timmy, Tiffany, time to go home now, say bye bye”
Tiffany’s and Timmy’s stories never end during the drive back home. My mind settles back into a state of peace, hearing them both chatter about coloring class. She’s healthy, they both are.
Soon, we reached our home; I smiled as I watched them sprint for the door to know who was the fastest.
My life is perfect.
I have my booming company. I have two adorable bundles of joy. We’re all fine and healthy. I have a father who cares about my
well–being and calls me every day to check up on his grandkids.
The only dent in my happiness is Thane; that’s ironic because, in a way, he’s also the source of the two biggest reasons for me to
smile.
Becky swept the kids into her welcoming arms. Becky’s a gem, a middle–aged woman with salt–and–pepper hair.
“Welcome Andera. How was work today? She gives us her usual warm smile.
It was fine.” I reply vaguely. I can’t talk about how horrible the meeting with Thane went. Becky doesn’t even know I’m
partnering with him, and neither does my father, although I bet that would only be a matter of time.
The doorbell rings, and I already know who is there
“Rosa ” I call while opening the door
“How did the health inspection go?”
She stepped in, glanced behind to where I stood and completely ignored my question.
“Where are my munchkins at?”
I fold my arm across my chest, she turns, takes another look at me, and huffs
“Don’t be jealous, Andera, but I love Tim and Tiffy more than I love you.” She threw me a syrupy smile, a gold fleck flicking in

“Well, ouch. “I place a hand on my chest in mock shock
“Okay Rosa, jokes apart. How was the inspection?”
“It was okay, Andrea. I don’t get why you’re so worried about this; you always make sure every worker follows proper protocol
and checks. It was a breeze, they even left a report of satisfaction.
I let out a breath I’ve been holding. Thank goodness.
“So how did your meeting go?” Rosa questions.
“Ummm… We will have to reschedule. ”
She turns to me swiftly, her eyes asking me questions.
“Why?”
Isighed.
“He pissed me off, Rosa. “I replied evasively. Rosa’s brows furrowed.
“You’re hiding something, Andera. Are you?”
“No, I’m not.”
“Yes. You are.” She maintained.
“Alright. Can we sit down and talk about it?” I needlessly point to the couch just so she could get my point.
As we both sit down, I begin to tell her about the texts, me blocking him on socials, and every other thing that happened earlier
between me and Thane.
She listens, making no move to interrupt me.
When I’m done, I sink into the soft sofa and release a long sigh.
“We need to move to step two, fast. Rosa
I don’t know how much longer I can stand him, we need to hit the nail on the wall and….”
“What if he’s not over you?” She murmured, more to herself than to me.
“Say what now?!” My eyebrows shot up high, my face is contorted in disbelief.
Nothing, nothing Andera. ” She denied
“Umm, I heard you clearly Rosa, tell me you were trying to make light of the situation. Thane wasn’t even into me to begin with. “I grimaced.

“Yeah, I know, I said that as a mistake, don’t mind me. I’m misreading this whole thing. Thane is just being an ass; if not, why would he pin you against a wall when you were walking out on him?” She laughed nervously.
I remained mute, not truly convinced that what Rosa said was a slip of tongue.
