A guard hurried over to me, looking apologetic.
“I’m really sorry, Miss Emma, but Luna Alina ordered us to remove your car from the estate system.”
“We even called Alpha to confirm. He said we should follow Luna Alina’s instructions.”
I glanced at my belongings — a few suitcases carelessly thrown outside the gate, clothes scattered everywhere. I walked over and knelt to gather my things, just as Alina and her mother’s car pulled up behind me.
They both stepped out, and Alina’s mother strode over, standing behind me with a mocking laugh.
“Emma, this house is only for the Alpha, the Luna, and their family. There’s no room for extras. And you—you’re the extra.”
Her voice was strong and full of energy, nothing like someone who was supposedly on their deathbed.
Now that Luke wasn’t around, Alina finally bared her fangs at me.
“My mom’s not dying, Emma. She’s going to live and make Luke do everything for me — until you’re completely destroyed.”
“You see, when I told him my mother wanted to see me wearing his family’s heirloom ring, he took it off your finger and gave it to me.”
“When I said my mother wanted to see our bonding photos, he took them with me. We even had sex in the dressing room. He was so wild.”
She sneered.
“No matter what I ask for, as long as I say it’s my mom’s dying wish, Luke believes me. He always puts me first. That’s what love is. You get it, right?”
Alina’s mother nodded eagerly beside her. “That’s right. Luke is such a good man, so respectful of elders. You’ll never find another Alpha like him!”
I turned to Alina’s mother, my voice cold. “You stole Monica’s boyfriend and gave birth to Alina. Monica turned around and married the previous Alpha, living a glamorous life. And your husband? A drunk loser. You’ve hated Monica ever since, competing with her every step of the way.”
“But you’ll never beat her. Because Monica didn’t raise a daughter as vicious as yours!”
The smug smile disappeared from her face.
My words struck a nerve. Alina’s mother let out a crazed scream and, to my shock, pulled out a silver dagger.
I flinched, thinking she was going to attack me, but instead, she plunged the blade into her own thigh.
Blood spilled out as she collapsed to the ground, muttering, “Oh no, I cut too deep…”
Alina screamed, “Mom! What’s wrong? Don’t scare me like this!”
Just then, Luke’s car pulled up. The moment he stepped out, Alina clung to her mother, shouting at me, “Emma, how could you be so cruel to hurt my mother? She doesn’t have much time left!”
She turned to Luke, tears streaming down her face. “This is all my fault. I won’t bond with you anymore. I’ll give you back to her!”
