Luke quickly stood up, grabbing something from the table before heading toward the door.

“It’s Alina. We’re going to swear the blood oath before the Moonstone. But don’t overthink it—we’re only doing this to keep her mother from suspecting anything.”

So, it was Alina. No wonder he looked so happy. “I get it. Go ahead. Elders are harder to fool—they’ve seen it all.”

“Exactly, if her mother finds out we’re just pretending, she might get upset, and her condition could worsen.”

He wasn’t worried about his own mother’s condition at all. Instead, he was more worried about Alina’s mother getting upset from discovering their fake bond.

“Then you should hurry,” I said, pushing Luke toward the door.

He hesitated when he saw my unusual behavior. Not only was I agreeing with him, I wasn’t debating with him like before, but I was even physically pushing him. He slowed down.

When I shoved him to the doorway, he tried to pull me close, his arm tightening around my waist as he leaned in to kiss me.

I hadn’t even had time to wipe off the disgusting kiss he had planted on my forehead earlier, and now he wanted to kiss my lips.

“Bang!” I kicked the door open, dodging his lips, and shouted toward the car, “Alina, Luke’s here!”
