On screen, Luke’s face turned pale. He turned to Alina, who was standing beside him, his voice filled with anger.
“Is this evidence real? Tell me the truth!”
Alina panicked and shouted, “Luke, don’t listen to them, I was just doing this for us!”
But Luke could no longer hold back. He slapped Alina hard across the face.

“You lied to me!”
The slap completely stunned Alina.

She clutched her cheek, her eyes wide with disbelief. “You hit me? Everything I did was to marry you! You went along with it
willingly!”
The audience erupted into chaos.
Luke’s expression darkened further, his voice trembling. “Alina, how could you be so cruel?”
Just then, Alina’s mother suddenly rushed forward, holding a silver knife, screaming, “Luke, you heartless man! How dare you
treat my daughter like this!”
She swung the silver knife, trying to stab Luke, but Luke quickly dodged.
Alina’s mother lost her balance, and the knife plunged deep into Alina’s heart, who was standing still.
The reporters on–site, of course, didn’t want to miss such an intense moment and broadcasted it live to all the tribes of the
Alliance. Standing in front of the TV, I suddenly thought, if I were at the scene, I might have been dragged into it by Alina’s
mother as the scapegoat. But thankfully, I was no longer there. They could no longer hurt me.
At some point, Ethan had come out of the study, standing beside me and tightly gripping my hand.
The blood stained Alina’s skirt as her eyes widened, slowly collapsing.
The scene descended into chaos. Luke was already gone. The reporter, speaking into the camera, reported that the paramedics
had arrived, taken Alina on a stretcher, and sent her to the hospital.
The Alliance Channel was especially busy that night.
The reporters followed them to the hospital, broadcasting live updates on Alina’s condition.
Finally, at midnight, the reporters relayed the doctor’s announcement.
Alina had passed away after unsuccessful resuscitation.
Alina’s mother had killed her own daughter with her own hands.
Three months later, as I had almost forgotten about the incident, Ethan told me that Alina’s mother had been convicted, and Luke had been sent to a psychiatric hospital.
I suddenly remembered something.
“By the way, how did the reporters get the surveillance footage from Luke’s house? Who gave it to them?”
Ethan smiled mysteriously and kissed my forehead. “I told you, I would make the Wildfire Pack pay for what they did to you.”
“Whether it’s today or in the future, I will always protect you.”
