Chapter 7
Those words hit Adora right where she was most vulnerable.
She stared at Louis, her eyes instantly turning ice–cold, her face completely expressionless.
For this statement alone, she and the man before her had become mortal enemies!
They were strangers who simply didn’t see eye to eye, but he went too far, deliberately mocking another’s pain.
The illustrious Walker family, the most prestigious and prominent family in the city, had raised such a classless descendant.
When the elevator doors opened, Adora coldly withdrew her gaze and left without a word.
Louis stared at her retreating figure, recalling her reaction, and a flash of regret quickly crossed his mind.
A victim who had been trafficked for three years, returned from the brink of death, covered in scars, and emaciated to skin and bones should have been welcomed home with excitement, joy, and care from her family, yet no one welcomed her.
That pain must be even more intense than the trafficking itself.
And he had just poured salt on her wounds.
As people entered and exited the elevator, the doors closed again, cutting off Louis‘ line of sight.
The medical intern behind him asked with a puzzled expression, “Dr. Walker, is she your patient? Why such hostility? This is the first time I’ve heard anyone call you incompetent. You could sue her for defamation.”
Louis came back to his senses.
Thinking of how that woman had called him incompetent, any trace of regret vanished from his heart.
He replied coolly, “She’s ill.”
The intern thought Louis meant the woman had a mental disorder and nodded in understanding. “No wonder…”
Adora completed all her examinations without any issues.
Fortunately, she confirmed she had not contracted HIV.
Unfortunately, her body had indeed developed problems.
Due to long–term malnutrition, she was severely underweight, had muscle atrophy in her lower limbs, suffered from hypoproteinemia, and had severe anemia.
“In addition to these, you also have arthritis, chronic eczema, and edema in your legs…”
After reviewing the examination reports, the doctor turned to look at her, noticing the scars on her wrists.

His expression grew serious as he asked with concern, “Miss, have you been subjected to domestic violence or abuse? You can
seek help from the police.”
Adora gave him a grateful smile.
“Thank you, I’ve already contacted the police. Please just tell me how to restore my health.”
“Good, I’m glad to hear that.”
The doctor relaxed, writing a prescription while instructing her to improve her nutrition and exercise regularly.
Adora took her medication and left the hospital.
As she passed through the outpatient hall, an ambulance came wailing into the hospital.
Medical staff quickly pushed in a stretcher with a blood–covered patient.
People along the way cleared a path, and Adora quickly stepped aside.
The situation was clearly urgent.
A doctor on the stretcher was performing CPR on the patient, completely disregarding the blood staining his white coat.
Adora frowned, staring intently at the rapidly passing stretcher, her expression quite surprised.
Because the white–coated angel racing against death was none other than the “incompetent” Louis.
Louis maintained his impassive expression, though even more stern and solemn than usual.
While rapidly administering emergency treatment, he issued a series of medical orders, his colleagues working seamlessly with
him.
The entire scene, despite the crisis, remained orderly and methodical.
Only after the stretcher entered the emergency room did the hall return to normal.
Adora withdrew her gaze, happening to notice a large screen on the opposite wall displaying introductions to expert physicians.
The leading medical expert was Louis.
She scanned the information and scoffed!
Dozens of titles and honors, several surgical procedures that were the first of their kind in the country, and even founder and
honorary chairman of multiple international medical organizations.
Adora snorted dismissively, turned, and walked out of the hospital, thinking how wonderful it must be to be wealthy.
With just a bit of talent, one could be extensively promoted, win countless accolades, and secure endless resources.
Leaving the hospital, Adora first treated herself to a delicious meal.

Then she cashed the check and deposited the one million dollars into her bank account.
With the nearly one hundred thousand dollars in cash remaining in her bag, she unhesitatingly ordered a Maserati.
Without a vehicle, getting around was too inconvenient.
“The total price is four hundred thousand dollars. Here’s eighty thousand dollars as a deposit–the remaining money will be paid
upon pickup.”
Adora placed the stacks of cash on the counter before adjusting the straps of her backpack.
The sales staff stood frozen, staring in shock at the piles of bills laid out before them.
