Chapter 37
As Adora unleashed her tirade, Laura clung to her sleeve, whispering urgently, “Adora, Adora, please stop… Just let it go!”
Louis listened patiently, letting her vent every insult without interruption.
Maybe he was too furious to react, or maybe he had suddenly found a newfound sense of tolerance.
To everyone’s surprise, he leisurely pulled out a chair, sat down, crossed one leg over the other, and smiled calmly, looking
unbothered.
“Are you done?”
“Not even close. You’re just like Eugene Turner–fake, two–faced, and a complete…‘
Before she could finish, Laura panicked and slapped a hand over her mouth.
“Adora!” she nearly jumped in desperation, her voice pleading as she turned to Louis.
“Mr. Walker, I’m so sorry. She’s just having a bad day–please don’t take it personally.”
Adora pried Laura’s hand off with an irritated glare. “Why do you keep stopping me? Why are you taking his side?”
Laura sighed, her expression full of worry. “You already have it hard enough at home. Why make more enemies out here? With
the Walker family’s influence…”
She didn’t finish, but the message was clear.
The Walkers were the most powerful family in the city.
If Adora made an enemy of them, she wouldn’t be able to survive here.
Surprised by the tears welling up in her friend’s eyes, Adora’s heart softened.
She knew Laura genuinely cared about her, so she swallowed her irritation.
“Come on, I’m not even crying, and here you are with tears.”
She grabbed a tissue from the table and wiped Laura’s face herself.
Laura took the tissue with a sniff. “I’m worried about you, not crying because you yelled at me.”
Louis sat there quietly, watching them.
For some reason, something in his chest stirred.
He wasn’t sure if it was because of Adora’s struggles or the unwavering loyalty between these two friends.
Out of nowhere, he spoke. “Seven million dollars. Includes two underground parking spaces. Final offer–take it or leave it.”

Adora froze, turning back to him. “Are you for real?”
A moment ago, he had been refusing to sell at all.
Now, he had not only changed his mind but was throwing in parking spaces?
Louis smirked coldly. “Your friend seems like a decent person. Consider it a favor to her.”
Laura lit up with excitement, nodding eagerly. “Thank you, Mr. Walker. Really, thank you!”
She turned to Adora and lowered her voice. “So? Are you good with this price? Still going through with it?”
The agent immediately chimed in. “Miss Matthews, if you agree, I’ll lower my commission by half a percent.”
Sensing the moment, he quickly played the sympathy card.
“The market’s been terrible–I haven’t closed a deal in two months. A lot of my colleagues have already quit… Miss Matthews, I’m begging you, let me get this sale through!”
His calculated concession, giving up part of his own profit, made Adora pause.
The room fell into another tense silence–both sides locked in an invisible negotiation.
After a brief pause, Adora lifted her gaze to Louis. “Six million eight hundred thousand. I’ll wire the full amount on the day of
transfer.”
Louis raised a brow. “Full payment upfront?”
“Yes.”
“You’re not running some kind of scam, are you?”
He knew her situation at the Matthews family.
They barely let her have a proper bedroom, let alone access to large sums of money.
Where was she getting all these money?
And without even blinking, she was buying a luxury penthouse?
Adora let out a laugh, her gaze sweeping over him with blatant disdain. “A scam? If anyone here lacks credibility, it’s you, not
me.”
