Chapter 35
Adora stared at her best friend in disbelief. “You’re not secretly into him, are you?”
Laura scoffed. “Not even close. I’m not in his league. Just pure admiration, that’s all.”
“Not sure he deserves it. Don’t forget what the Walker family does. If he’s investing in medical research and it actually succeeds,
the profit would be astronomical.
“He’d have the power to monopolize the entire industry.”
Laura, who had been full of admiration just moments ago, suddenly deflated like a popped balloon. “It sounded like such a good
thing until you put it that way.”
Adora glanced down and casually looked up the Walker family’s business empire on her phone. “See? Walker Corporation owns a
pharmaceutical company.”
Laura was speechless.
After a pause, she muttered, “Still, Louis Walker is in a league of his own–truly one of a kind. You’re just holding a grudge
because of Eugene, and now you’re letting that cloud your judgment.”
Adora was speechless.
The two wandered around the area for a bit until the real estate agent called to inform them that the owner had arrived.
As they made their way back, Adora spotted a sleek sports car parked in front of the agency.
The car was jet black, its glossy finish gleaming under the light.
Its minimalist design exuded both modern sophistication and effortless style.
With its low, aerodynamic front, oversized rear wing, and sleek, flawless lines, every detail of the car exuded elegance and power.
A small crowd had gathered around, murmuring in awe and admiration.
“Wow, that’s a Koenigsegg, right? One of the rarest hypercars in the world! It’s worth at least ten million dollars! There’s only one in the country, and we’re lucky enough to see it in person!”
Laura’s eyes widened in shock.
Adora glanced at it.
She found the car undeniably impressive, but it didn’t make her envious.
Anyone who bought a car in that price range was either ridiculously extravagant or outright reckless with money.
The real estate agent stepped out to greet them and led them inside to the meeting room.

And the moment Adora laid eyes on the person sitting inside, she froze.
He was someone she knew.
The agent beamed. “Miss Matthews, this is the owner of the penthouse-”
Before he could finish, Adora cut him off in shock. “You?!”
Louis looked up, his sharp, handsome features cool and unreadable.
A flicker of surprise crossed his face before his gaze darkened.
What a small world.
So, the so–called “wealthy woman” buying his property turned out to be none other than Adora–the same woman who called
him a quack.
The agent looked between them in confusion. “Wait… you two know each other?”
Adora let out a short, amused laugh. “Oh, trust me, we go way back.‘
Laura, standing beside her, was equally stunned.
What were the odds?
The house her best friend wanted to buy belonged to none other than Louis.
Just moments ago, they were talking about him behind his back.
Louis stood up, his expression unreadable. “I’m not selling the house anymore. I have other things to do. I’ll be leaving now.”
Before his words even fully landed, he pushed his chair back with one foot, straightened his posture, and turned to leave.
Adora frowned.
Her reflexes were sharp.
Before he could take another step, she strode forward and blocked his path.
“Why aren’t you selling it anymore? I already put down a deposit.”
“I’ll refund you.”
“No way! If you back out, you owe me a penalty fee.”
Louis looked down at her and let out a dry chuckle. “Are you that desperate for money? Trying to extort me now?”
“If I can afford to buy your house, do I look like I need money?” Adora shot back without hesitation.
“I paid the deposit, so we go by the contract.”

The real estate agent stood frozen to the side, caught between them, completely at a loss.
Just moments ago, when he realized they knew each other, he worried they might cut him out of the deal and negotiate privately.
Who would have thought they were at odds instead?
Louis wasn’t going to sell his house anymore?
If this deal went through, his commission alone would be in the hundreds of thousands.
And now, it was slipping right through his fingers.
Thinking of the massive payout at stake, the agent gathered his courage and carefully spoke up.
“Mr. Walker, Miss Matthews is genuinely interested in your property. And… considering the current market downturn, your
penthouse has been on the market for over a year.
“Now that you finally have a serious buyer…”
