Chapter 34
White–Coat Deity typed, “We’ll see next week. If I have time, I’ll come.”
Adora was watching a movie when she noticed her messenger icon flashing repeatedly.
She had no choice but to open it and take a look.
“Meeting up in person?” she typed back.
She instinctively resisted the idea.
After a moment of thought, she added, “For personal health reasons, I’ll have to sit this one out. You guys have fun. Dinner’s on
me–I’ll cover the bill and send some cash in the group chat later.”
There were six people in the group, and she was probably the wealthiest among them.
Since she couldn’t make it, covering the bill was the least she could do as an apology.
Coach Ryan tagged Madame Lee. “Still not feeling better?”
Madame Lee replied, “Yeah.”
Miles jumped in, “Madame Lee, if you don’t mind me asking, how old are you this year?”
Adora chuckled at the screen and typed, “My grandchild is already in kindergarten.”
A row of shocked emojis appeared in response.
White–Coat Deity sent a message. “If she doesn’t want to be honest, just be respectful and stop asking.”
Adora frowned at the screen. How did he see through her lie?
Sure enough, the others were just as curious.
Elliot asked, “White–Coat Deity, how do you know Madame Lee isn’t telling the truth? Have you two met in person?”
White–Coat Deity responded, “No, just a gut feeling.”
Mason joined in, “Then, what does your gut feeling say about Madame Lee’s age?”
White–Coat Deity typed confidently, “Around 35.”
Adora scoffed at the screen and thought, “So much for his supposed insight.”
Miles quickly followed up, “Madame Lee, is White–Coat right?”
Madame Lee sent a thumbs–up emoji. “White–Coat Deity is amazing. He guessed it right.”
Although her words were affirming, on the other end of the screen, Louis picked up on her sarcasm.

She was not 35? Could she be even younger?
He felt a hint of doubt but quickly dismissed it.
Men and women had their boundaries, and he wasn’t the type to pry into gossip.
Instead, he turned his attention back to taking care of his little nephew.
The group chat continued with casual conversations for a while.
Mason suggested that when they met in person, they should take a group photo and share it in the chat so everyone could put faces to names.
Zachary responded, saying they’d see how things went.
Before going to bed, Adora checked the group messages again.
Seeing that they planned to take a group photo, she suddenly found herself interested.
She wasn’t particularly curious about what Miles or Coach Ryan looked like, but that so–called White–Coat Deity….
Ha.
She was curious to see if he truly lived up to the “deity” title or if he was just another short, chubby, and unimpressive guy.
The next day, heavy rain poured down, and Adora stayed home.
In the afternoon, a real estate agent called, saying they had arranged a meeting with the property owner for the next day at noon.
Adora agreed and transferred the necessary funds from her stock account to her bank account in advance.
The next day happened to be the weekend.
Laura was free as well, so she came along to accompany Adora for the contract signing.
They arrived on time, but after waiting for a long while, the property owner was nowhere to be seen.
The agent took a call and then explained, “The owner is a doctor. He had an emergency at the hospital and will be an hour late.”
Hearing that, Adora frowned in confusion.
Lately, she seemed to be dealing with doctors a lot.
Eugene’s uncle was a doctor.
hat stock market newbie in the group chat was also a doctor.
nd now, even the owner of this second–hand property turned out to be a doctor.

“It’s fine, we can wait,” Laura replied to the agent, then turned to her best friend.
“What’s wrong? You don’t want to wait?”
Adora shook her head. “No, it’s just… it feels like doctors are everywhere these days.”
Laura looked puzzled. “What do you mean?”
Adora glanced at her. “Do you remember the guy I accidentally yelled at last time?”
“The youngest son of the Walker family’s patriarch?”
“Yeah. He’s Eugene Turner’s uncle and also a doctor. But I’m pretty sure he’s a quack.”
Laura’s expression shifted in surprise. “Why would you say that?”
“Just a gut feeling.”
“Well, your gut feeling is wrong!” Laura’s tone carried a hint of admiration.
“I heard he’s led multiple medical research projects, and he even invests his own money in them. Most of these projects require years of effort with little to no return.
“Not only is he an exceptional doctor, but he’s also a genuinely good person with a deep sense of duty to save lives. He’s practically the perfect
man!”
