Chapter 16
Laura was even more shocked. “You know Lewis?”
Adora didn’t answer.
Instead, she gritted her teeth and instructed her best friend, “Get in the car and stay put. Don’t let him see you. I’ll handle him!”
Laura called after her, trying to stop her, but Adora was already striding forward with a determined air.
At that moment, Lewis Burns finished his call and glanced outside.
Startled, Laura’s heart skipped a beat, and she quickly ducked back into the car to avoid being seen.
Inside the restaurant, Louis was still on the phone.
Nathan had asked him to lunch, but that guy was running late.
“I’m giving you ten more minutes. If you’re not here, I’m leaving,” he said coldly, hanging up in frustration.
Before he could even set his phone down, someone stormed toward him, looking cold and furious.
Louis narrowed his eyes in displeasure as he recognized her.
Adora?
What was she doing here? And with such an intense, hostile look?
“Something wrong?” He raised an eyebrow, his tone indifferent.
Adora pulled out the chair across from him and sat down, letting out a sharp scoff before speaking with biting sarcasm.
“I finally understand why Eugene is such a scumbag. Turns out, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.”
Louis adjusted his gold–rimmed glasses, his face turning ice–cold.
“If you’re mentally unstable, you should see a psychiatrist. Want me to recommend one?” His words were cutting–when it came to sharp tongues, he had never lost a battle.
Adora sneered and let her gaze drop briefly to his waist before making a pointed remark.
“Maybe you’re the one who should see a doctor. Keep messing around, and it’s only a matter of time before you get burned. Viruses don’t discriminate–even against doctors.”
Louis frowned deeply. “What the hell are you talking about?“”
Adora’s cold eyes swept over him.
“Don’t act clueless. You’re a sleazy womanizer, always cracking dirty jokes. I even heard you’re known for it. How fitting for a

doctor.
“You’ve seen so much filth, you must be desensitized by now. What, do you take advantage of your job to do even more disgusting
things?”
Her words were a blatant insult to his profession, maybe even too harsh.
But as she spoke, flashes of the past crossed her mind–the time, two years ago, when she had nearly been assaulted by a doctor.
That time, because she refused to submit, she was beaten so badly that her injuries became severe.
The family, afraid she would die, sent her to a small–town hospital.
She thought she had a chance to escape.
While the doctor was treating her wounds, she grabbed his hand and begged him for help.
But that middle–aged male doctor took the opportunity to make disgusting demands.
Worse, he used the excuse of treating her injuries to pull her pants down.
She screamed for help, but the man covered her mouth tightly.
If it hadn’t been for someone walking in at that moment and interrupting the beast, she would have lost everything–right in the
hands of someone sworn to save lives.
It wasn’t until much later that she learned the truth: that doctor was from the same town, and his wife had also been trafficked
from another town.
Louis knew none of this.
But as he looked at Adora’s furious expression, he could sense that she had gone through something deeply painful.
He wouldn’t deny that there were some disgusting scumbags in his profession–men who took advantage of patients under the guise of medical treatment.
But he was not one of them.
And he had no idea why Adora suddenly barged in just to throw such baseless accusations at him.
Seeing his silence, Adora assumed he was too guilty to argue back.
Her expression grew even more contemptuous.
“I thought you were just an incompetent doctor. Turns out, you’re a sick pervert too! I’m warning you to stay away from Laura, or I’ll expose all your disgusting deeds online and let the public…”
Before she could finish her threat, her phone rang.
It was Laura.

“Adora, why aren’t you there yet? He just called me, asking if I’m standing him up again, and he’s threatening to complain to my dad.” Laura sounded confused.
