Chapter 44 Team of professionals
Although timure of Mario’s intentions, Renee sensed item’t going to be favorable at all,
Below, music played, and people danced wildly, their movements uninhibited
Some were drinking and dancing, others were intimately entwined
It was a scene of decadence.
“What are you suggesting?”
“Dance by that window. If you raise one hundred thousand dollars in bids, I’ll persuade Wyatt for you.
The Dove Island Club hosted a competition for female dancers every Saturday night, with the most popular dancer receiving a bonus.
In this world, popularity often equated to financial gain, especially amongst the wealthy.
“Marcelo, you want your woman to dance for others‘ amusement?” Renee was incredulous.
Marcelo clarified, “Mrs. King, you are just my nominal wife, not my woman.”
Being his nominal wife and being his woman were distinctly different. The former could be a mere title, while the latter implied intimacy with him.
Marcelo stood, lifting her Renee’s chin. His voice was low and cold. “Can I even call you my woman, Renee Do you think you can really be my woman? You can be anyone’s woman as it is and I don’t want someone as easy as you.”
“You….you’re going too far.” Renee’s face reddened with anger as she huffed.
Had it not been for her self–control, she might have struck him.
Marcelo coolly reminded her, “Mrs. King, remember, you came here asking for a favor.”
He disliked losing control, and now, dictating Renee’s actions brought him a twisted sense of satisfaction.
He was curious, almost eager, to see how she would react.
On their wedding night, she braved a storm.
At Venus Bar, she had impressed him.
And what about now?
What would she do? What could she do?
“I’m giving you a minute to decide,” Marcelo said as he settled back into his wheelchair.
His imposing presence intensified as he reclined, his gaze on Renee like she was a pawn in his game. “Fine. I’ll dance,” She conceded.
When she raised her head again, the fury in her eyes had been replaced by a frosty smirk. “Mr. King, if you’re indifferent to your wife’s conduct, then why should I care?
At Marcelo’s command, pulsating drumbeats filled the rooth, mirroring the rhythm from the dance floor below.
Renee was clad in a long trench coat, wide–legged pants, and a black T–shirt.
Quickly adjusting her outfit, she transformed the T–shirt into a cropped top, exposing her midriff.

Her slender waist and glowing skin were now on display.

Marcelo watched, his eyes narrowing slightly, a hint of dryness in his throat. He reached for his champagne, taking a sip as his Adam’s apple moved subtly.
If the crowd outside caught a glimpse of Rence in that moment, they would undoubtedly be captivated.
A hundred thousand dollars… seemed a meager sum for such a spectacle.
Positioned at the edge of the French window, Renee could see the entire hall below.
In turn, anyone looking up could easily see her.
Swallowing her humiliation and resentment, Rence internally berated Marcelo.
Kaiden remembered something from the information he got on Renee, she was skilled in both musical instruments and ballet, a standout talent among her peers.
The thought of Renee performing ballet in such a setting seemed almost ludicrous to him.
But as the jazz music began, Renee moved with it.
Her dance was vibrant and energetic, a display of lively jazz moves.
Her hips swayed, she twisted her waist, lifted her chest, turned…
Each movement was precise, natural, and captivating.
Marcelo had seen many women dance, but none had caught his attention like this woman. Her slender waist moved rhythmically, her movements flirtatious and mesmerizing.
This performance eclipsed any he had witnessed before.
As Renee struck her final pose, Marcelo abruptly stood and grasped her waist.
Her waist was delicate under his hand, causing Renee to freeze in shock, her breath halting as she looked at him in astonishment.
The warmth of his palm seeped through her skin, rendering her rigid and hesitant to move.
His gaze traveled from her face to her neck, then lower….
That look made her intensely uncomfortable, as if she were bare and completely exposed under his scrutiny.
“Mrs. King, are you so desperate for attention that you’re willing to flaunt yourself like this because I fail to satisfy you? Huh?” Marcelo’s voice dripped with contempt
He leaned in close, his breath mingling with hers.
She could see his long, thick eyelashes, casting a shadow over his intense, dark eyes that sent a shiver of fear through her.
“How could that be?” Renee, regaining her composure, met his gaze with a forced smile. “Mr. King, your legs are clearly fine. How could you fail to satisfy me? I pride myself on being easily content.”
This was the poise of a former top socialite, capable of charming a crowd and maintaining her composure. “Wouldn’t my mother be thrilled to see the elegance of her daughter–in–law?” Marcelo’s words hinted at sarcasm.

Mentioning Renee’s respected elder, her demeanor faltered a flush of embarrassment coloring her cheeks. “Mr. King, you’re interfering with the bidding. If it doesn’teach a hundred thousand because of you, will you make it up?” Renee tried to push him away, but her streng was inadequate.
“So, you’ll leave with anyone who can meet the price, huh? tence?” His voice carried a subtle note of danger and warning
“Isn’t this what you wanted?” Renceretorted.
Internally, Marcelo rejected her accusation.
Rence struggled to free herself, her expression hardening. I’ve danced, you’ve had your fon, now let me go ”
To her surprise, she noticed the bidding had already escalated in the hall, reaching a hundred and thirty thousand dollars.
The crowd below seemed oblivious to her struggle with Marcelo
Renee pondered, if they were even visible to the people below, a thought that left her momentarily stunned.
“How could they not see.
“Wyatt will contact you tomorrow,” Marcelo abruptly said, releasing her.
Rence wanted to question further, but Marcelo indifferent expression clearly conveyed, “Leave now while I’m still in a decent mood.”
Descending the stairs, Renee inwardly fumed at Marcelo.
He had coerced his wife into a public dance, treating her like an item in an auction. In her eyes, calling him an asshole was an understatement.
Marcelo returned to the first floor from the third.
The loud music resumed, and the hall was alive with energy
Dancers energetically performed on stage, cheered on by the crowd.
Above the stage, a black arc jutted out, the room where Renee and Marcelo had been.
From inside, the windows were clear; from outside, they were one–way.
Unseen by the people below, Renee’s dance had been invisible to them.
The bids were for the dancer in the lobby, not for her.
Renee had not been displayed for bidding.
Marcelo, despite his flaws and harsh methods, recognized his moral failings.
He was harsh, and unyielding.
But he couldn’t bear to see his wife treated like an object for bidding.
Renee hurried back to the hospital to be with Nana.
Marcelo kept to his words and the following day, Wyatt Moore showed up at the hospital with his team of professionals.
